Artemis Gold is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with a strong financial capacity aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining-friendly jurisdictions. The Company's current focus is the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver. You will have the ability to make a significant contribution to the project team as the Company pursues the disciplined development of the Blackwater Mine. Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction.

Reporting to the Manager – Minning, the Lead - Dispatch is responsible for coordinating and optimizing the movement of equipment, vehicles, and personnel within the mining site. Overseeing the dispatching operations, manage communication with equipment operators, supervisors, and ensure efficient utilization of resources to support production targets and safety objectives.

Location: Blackwater Mine Site

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On - Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Gold’s safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
  • Ensure communications within the open pit are coordinated and carried out in a safe manner and the mining sequence is adhered to.
  • Ensure that all dispatch activities adhere to HSE regulations and procedures, including traffic management, equipment maintenance, and emergency response protocols.
  • Coordinate emergency responses in collaboration with mine safety teams, including evacuations, rescue operations, and communication with external emergency services if necessary.
  • Lead and supervise a team of dispatchers responsible for coordinating the movement of haul trucks, shovels, loaders, and other equipment within the mining site, ensuring adherence to established schedules, priorities, blend plans, and safety protocols.
  • Provide guidance and support to dispatch staff, equipment operators, and other mine personnel on operational procedures, safety practices, and emergency protocols.
  • Manage the dispatching system and software applications used for tracking equipment availability, location, and utilization, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is maintained for effective decision-making and planning.
  • Maintain constant communication with mine supervisors, equipment operators, and other relevant personnel to convey instructions, updates, and emergency notifications effectively.
  • Provide accurate and relevant information and insight to line management on performance for a shift, 24-hour period, and against the weekly plan.
  • Provide daily reports on production performance and significant issues to the Mine Supervisors/Superintendents to ensure appropriate communications of department events.
  • Liaise with mining, maintenance, crushing personnel and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor production targets, equipment performance, and operational metrics in real-time, identifying potential bottlenecks, delays, or inefficiencies and taking proactive measures to address them to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.
  • Support the site’s continuous improvement culture by coming forward with ideas and solutions.
  • Assist with supporting employees within the Employee Development Pathway and maintaining appropriate records.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of open pit mining experience in a dispatch position.
  • Previous experience in mine operations, or heavy equipment management, with demonstrated leadership skills and supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of mining equipment, processes and HSE regulations.
  • Proficient in dispatching systems, fleet management software, and communication technologies used in mining operations.
  • Minestar experience considered an asset.
  • Experience with Short Interval Controls and plan deviation management.
  • Intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Office Suite including Excel.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory role considered an asset.

Skills

  • Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation
  • Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team
  • Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift
  • Excellent knowledge of load and haul process and good knowledge of overall mining sequence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of stakeholders, including equipment operators, supervisors, and management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve operational performance.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices related to mine operations and equipment dispatching.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities and operational requirements in a fast-paced and dynamic mining environment.
  • Ability to drive a high performing team to achieve operational efficiencies.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, especially during emergency situations.
  • Eye for detail and discipline for accuracy and ability to multi-task whilst remaining focused.
  • A strong desire to influence team member’s actions by coaching and mentoring and contributing to Blackwaters dynamic work environment.
