Position: Learning Technologies Consultant (K-12) - Permanent

Location: Board Offices – (with travel to CDSBEO locations)

Salary: As per Collective Agreement (annual Consultant's allowance of $8,723.00 is applicable)

FTE: 1.00

Effective: February 2, 2026

Qualifications/Skills

  • Ontario College of Teachers Certificate in accordance with Ontario regulations
  • Holds one or more Specialist qualifications in accordance with Ontario regulations
  • A minimum of 5 years teaching experience
  • Willingness to adapt to the ever-changing role of technology/leveraging digital.
  • Understanding of the Deep Learning toolkit, representation of the 6 Global Competencies and 4 Elements in their daily work.
  • Comfort in leading new initiatives at school and/or system level.
  • A valid Ontario Driver's License and access to a vehicle.

Summary

Under the direction of the Superintendent with responsibility for Information Communication Technology(ICT), the successful candidate will provide leadership and build capacity across central departments (e.g. Student Success, Curriculum, Special Education and ICT, etc), and the system on introducing transformational pedagogical change through the leveraging of technology (e.g., Assessment and Evaluation, AI, and Deep Learning, etc). This will be purposefully supported by multiple tools and strategies that may include: Microsoft Suite, Teams, D2L Brightspace, Wayground, Educator Laptops and Interactive Display Solutions, robotics, microbits, coding, Artificial Intelligence etc…

The Successful Candidate will best represent the following attributes and Global Competencies:

Collaboration

  • Fostering relationships, communicating and collaborating with all board stakeholders and initiatives
  • Participating in provincial committees and initiatives
  • Working with peers to provide practice-embedded professional learning and creating rich learning opportunities to engage students in deep learning.

Communication

  • Supporting professional learning synchronously and asynchronously through digital tools (e.g., Teams) and face-to-face, as appropriate.
  • Create and distribute materials that support teachers in the classroom leveraging technology
  • Working with software suppliers to communicate the needs of teachers and learners and to provide feedback and guide their product development team.
  • Communicating updates to ICT Manager and Superintendents
  • Creating videos of professional development content

Critical Thinking

  • Contributing to the cross-board planning and delivery of professional learning for educators, and for non-teaching staff where appropriate. Sitting on board committees will support these goals.
  • Monitoring, data collection and representation, pedagogical documentation and the ‘capturing of evidence of learning' around the leveraging of technology for increased student achievement
  • Evaluating and supporting the development of curriculum support materials for educator use.

Creativity

  • Developing and facilitating professional learning and support for educators regarding effective online/blended pedagogical practices that meet the Ontario curriculum expectations, develop students' global competencies and promote Gospel values
  • Modeling innovation and creativity while leveraging digital to personalize and differentiate online instruction, assessment and feedback (for/as/of learning).
  • Learning new tools and assessing and sharing their relevance and effectiveness with peers. Linking new tools to the curriculum that offer better learning opportunities through student engagement.

Citizenship

  • Promoting positive Digital Citizenship to develop students' global competencies and to promote Gospel values via the Catholic Graduate Expectations (CGE's).

Character

  • Working effectively in a collaborative, dynamic and creative team environment and has strong instructional, organization and time management skills
  • Continuously learning and developing new skills and relationships for learning (e.g., a self-starter for professional development, certifications, etc)
  • Demonstrating a positivity around the professional learning cycle through the implementation of ongoing change
