Who are we looking for? We are looking for a Senior Advisor-Infrastructure Sustainability, to work closely with the Americas Business Group Leader and our Sustainability Advisory Team to support GHD's growth in the market.

The goal for GHD is to be a premier Sustainability consultant with a strategic focus across Private, Municipal, Water and Transportation markets in the USA and Canada. Closely cooperating with other GHD business leaders and the broader GHD business, this role is a key element of our growth strategy.

Developing meaningful and technically based carbon reduction strategies for infrastructure is a key area for growth within our sustainability practice that focuses on providing commercial value to our clients. This includes sustainability and resiliency projects related to vehicle fleet optimization, sustainable water/wastewater and transportation infrastructure, and community infrastructure.

  • Consulting Project/Program Design: Leading and coordinating proposal ideation and development, complemented by project management and delivery capabilities across sustainable infrastructure including sustainability baselining, operational challenge specification, solution identification, road-mapping and project/initiative sequencing
  • Consulting Project Delivery: Strategic thinkingand advising translating sustainability goals into actionable infrastructure outcomes.
  • Consulting Project Content Development: Develop innovative approaches and write materials that are highly visible—such as slide decks for presentations on innovative solutions to top management, or bespoke and market-leading client reports—to complete the work of client team.
  • Community of Practice Management: Participate in and contribute to a community of practice in a defined area of expertise, such as fleet optimization and emissions reduction planning, or consulting to build own capability and develop innovative practice among colleagues.
  • Client Issue Diagnosis: Collate and conduct analysis of the tactical and operational information gathered through interviews and research to support the diagnosis of underlying client issues and problems and the design of single solutions.
  • Client Issue Clarification: Conduct interviews following an established framework of questions to gather information on client issues.
  • Workshop Facilitation: Facilitate process development workshops with subject-matter experts, drive agreement on process flows across functional areas, and document processes and activity workflows to develop clear and detailed process maps.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Use data from a wide range of sources to analyze key themes and identify possible impacts on the business.
  • Personal Capability Building: Act as subject matter expert in an area of technology, policy, regulation, or operational management for the team. Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging external regulation and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Project Management: Manage a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues.
  • Business Advice: Lead a highly complex business advisory process, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic initiatives and goals.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Manage important client relationships with guidance from senior colleagues, or oversee relationship management with a group of more transactional clients and customers.

Success Criteria:

  • Contribution to meeting revenue targets of the sustainability practice
  • Growth of the sustainable infrastructure practice pipeline and backlog of projects aligned to the Sustainability Advisory Business Plan
  • Supporting the growth and development of the overall sustainability team
  • Delivery performance – client satisfaction, high quality product delivery, and managing risk
  • Meet established KPIs related to revenue growth and delivery in support of the overall team objectives.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level
  • 10+ years’ experience in Consultancy specifically around infrastructure sustainability, GHG emissions, decarbonization and net zero planning capability area and delivery commercial value to clients
  • Experience ideally gained from working within a management consulting business or in a relevant discipline within public and/or private sector
  • A strong network, and a successful track record of building credibility with clients and winning work reflected in the achievement of revenue and growth targets
  • An ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across a host of technical disciplines and industrial sectors
  • Agility to think across sectors to bring value to clients
  • Exceptional relationship management and written and verbal communication skills to work with a diverse client group with a variety of needs
  • Sound understanding of sectors including a selection of:of: public sector water/wastewater, transportation and community infrastructure, and power, as well as an appreciation for sectoral decarbonization policy, strategy and/or obligations
