About the role

A unique opportunity at Peoples Park Tower

This is a very interesting position involving two different departments with approximately 50% focus on Payroll and 50% focus on Marketing. Work flow and schedule will be predictable depending on the day of the week and also the time of year, which will be easily managed by the successful candidate.

The Payroll Administrator collects and verifying employee data, calculating and processing payments, managing deductions, and ensuring compliance with tax laws and benefits regulations. Core responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, managing payroll-related software and systems, resolving discrepancies, and responding to manager and or employee inquiries about pay and benefits. Key skills for this role include strong attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities, and a thorough understanding of payroll processes and Canadian tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payment Processing: calculate and process pay for employees, deductions, and special payments.
  • Deduction Management: verify and manage various deductions, such as taxes, garnishments, and benefits and pension contributions. Oversee source deductions and remittances, WSNB remittance, etc.
  • Maintain Up To Date Records: including timesheets, source deductions, payroll processing forms, Record of Employment (ROE), overseeing year end processing including T4s.
  • Benefit Administration: Assist Human Resources with set up of benefits and pension for employees and respond to general questions. Oversee billing with our insurance provider. Process and document forms for benefit administration, such as pension plans and insurance.
  • Compliance & Reporting: ensure compliance with Canadian tax laws, company policies, and relevant legislation. Prepare and file year-end tax statements, such as T4s, and other required documents like Records of Employment.
  • Inquiry Resolution: address and resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to manager’s inquiries regarding payroll matters and benefits.

  • Technical Proficiency with payroll software and computerized systems and MS Office, including Excel.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Payroll Regulations and tax laws.
  • Effective and clear communicator
  • Strong confidentiality regarding all payroll matters restricted to Payroll, Human Resources and the employee’s direct manager.

Education & Training

  • College diploma or degree in a relevant field: payroll, finance, accounting, or human resources can be beneficial.
  • Experience in payroll is highly valued, and professional certifications, such as the Certified Payroll Practitioner is an asset.

The Marketing Assistant will assist the Community and Senior Services Manager with marketing our facilities to potential clients and assist with communication with our current Residents and their family members. This role may also assist with Residents moving in and out of the facility.

  • Arranging tours of facility
  • Preparation of Welcome Packets
  • Assisting with Activities newsletters and posters
  • Assisting with social media and Screenscape
  • Maintain inventory of marketing supplies
