Your next Career: CNC Laser Operator - Day Shift - 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, Mon to Fri.
Job Purpose
Working in the metal shop department the Laser Operator operates a CNC laser cutting system to meet Company and customer requirements in output and quality. The Laser Operator cut/laser all components and prepare them for break press machines, welding or painting.
Duties and Responsibilities
-
Prepares work to be accomplished by studying customer workorders and specifications.
-
Work with CNC Programmers to ensure CNC programs are fully comprehendible and that issues do not arise.
-
Required to set up and/or assist in setup, operate and maintain a variety of other machine tools including CNC tools to perform precision, repetitive and non-repetitive machining operations.
-
Ensure the completed machined parts are loaded securely and safely to prevent falling over or damage when transporting to next workstation or operation.
-
Read and comprehend instructions, blueprints and follow established procedures.
-
Perform daily machine start up and shut down procedures.
-
Make small adjustments to CNC program when required or needed.
-
Facilitate work-order paper flow in accordance with ISO quality standards.
-
Assists with final inspection of product before sending to next operational step.
-
Report on issues, malfunctions or defects to Lead Hand and Production Manager.
-
Reports any observed or potential hazards immediately.
-
Wear the proper PPE where required.
-
Helps with other functional areas/departments as the need arises or as assigned.

Follow Calstone Inc. Policies and Procedures.

Adherence to attendance policy (regular attendance)

Train co-workers as assigned.

All other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
-
Legally eligible to work in Canada
-
Experience and ability to use quality measuring tools. Ie calipers
-
Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical condition
-
Lift, carry, push and or pull 1 – 50 lbs frequently.
-
Ability to communicate with co-workers, and Managers.
-
Ability to perform computer functions as they pertain to the job.

Manual dexterity

Attention to detail
-
Able to take instructions

Team player
-
Dependability
Preferred:
-
Background in CNC machinery is required
-
Engineering Aluminum based products is preferred
-
Basic experience with Solidworks design table (for adding different configurations), Solidworks PDM and Solidworks simulation.

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or other related engineering disciplines would preferred
-
Basic experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel
