About the role
Training Coordinator – Aboriginal Traineeship Program Programmed Skilled Workforce is a leading provider of staffing and training services, specialising in the employment of apprentices and trainees and the delivery of nationally accredited training. Each year, we support more than 1,500 apprentices and trainees across diverse industries.
Our Group Training Organisation (GTO) is seeking a full-time Training Coordinator dedicated to managing and mentoring a cohort of Aboriginal apprentices and trainees. This role is based in Darwin and will be providing support for trainees in a new dedicated Aboriginal Program we are working on in conjunction with a collaboration of large employers.
We are looking for a culturally aware, well-organised individual who is passionate about empowering Aboriginal people through education, training and meaningful employment, who understand the importance of culture, community and connection in achieving successful outcomes.
The role will initially be part-time, working 3 days per week (22.8 hours). We are open to flexible working arrangements and can discuss how those hours are achieved to suit both the role and the individual.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal apprentices and trainees, their communities, client stakeholders, training providers, and TAFE services.
- Provide pastoral care, coaching, and mentoring to support cultural needs and individual development.
- Monitor training progression and liaise with training providers to ensure successful outcomes.
- Conduct performance reviews and manage any disciplinary processes in a supportive and culturally appropriate manner, working in partnership with stakeholders.
- Recruit and induct new trainees into the program.
- Ensure workplace safety and complete risk assessments.
- Manage administration tasks including reporting, timesheets, and compliance documentation.
- Uphold contractual requirements, KPIs, and National Group Training Standards.
Ideal Candidate
- Demonstrates cultural competency and a commitment to supporting Aboriginal people and communities.
- Strong understanding of safety and compliance standards, as well as cultural safety, self-determination and community led approaches.
- Experience in the GTO sector or training industry is highly regarded.
- Excellent communication skills – oral and written.
- Ability to build trust and positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proactive, organised, and able to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel as required.
