Position Title: Dispatcher

Reports to: Logistics Supervisor

The Role

The Dispatcher plays a key role in making sure our daily food deliveries to childcare centers run smoothly. Based in Markham, this role plans and updates delivery routes in our software, schedules and supports drivers, and ensures food is picked up and delivered on time. The Dispatcher works closely with our Customer Care, Finance, and Shipping teams to fix any delivery issues, keep records accurate, and continue to find ways to improve our delivery service.

Success

In this role is achieved when all childcare center deliveries are completed on time and in full, drivers follow company policies and client site requirements, and any delivery issues are resolved promptly and professionally. A successful Dispatcher ensures routes are optimized for efficiency, compliance is maintained, and strong communication is upheld between drivers, internal teams, and clients to consistently deliver high-quality service

Qualification and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of customer service and outbound logistics (dispatch application)

  • College Diploma or University Degree is an asset

  • Intermediate computer skills: Microsoft office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook), email applications (Outlook) and ability to learn new computer systems + + Badger/GPS (Onfleet recommended)

  • Strong data entry skills, and basic math skills

  • Ability to work in a high pressure, fast paced environment

  • Strong time management, organization and multitasking abilities

  • Excellent communication skills over the phone, in person, and through email

  • Knowledge of food service or manufacturing is an asset

  • Can work well independently as well as in a team

  • G License (Mandatory)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all delivery routes are accurately planned and entered into the delivery application, meeting on-time requirements.

  • Optimize routing to improve efficiency and identify cost-saving opportunities, including strategic use of Highway 407.

  • Prepare and provide accurate delivery reports to Accounting to support contractor invoicing.

  • Train and monitor drivers on the effective use of the delivery application.

  • Track driver-related issues, identify root causes, and provide coaching to address performance concerns.

  • Coordinate and optimize driver schedules to facilitate timely food pick-ups for production.

  • Resolve delivery-related issues directly with drivers and Customer Care to ensure client satisfaction.

  • Ensure all delivery operations comply with applicable legal regulations, safety standards, and company policies.

  • Provide recommendations to Management for process improvements and operational efficiencies.

  • Model and uphold the company’s charter, values, and commitment to service excellence.
