As a Crew Leader – Dock Service, you are responsible for planning, executing, and delivering dock service projects to Hutten standards. You lead a crew of 2–5 team members, develop emerging leaders, manage safety and performance, and ensure every project is completed efficiently, professionally, and to specification.
This role combines physical execution with full leadership ownership on the water.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Planning & Execution
- Plan labour, equipment, materials, and scheduling to ensure jobs are completed on time and within estimated hours
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the daily activities of a 2–5 person dock crew
- Delegate tasks clearly and hold crew members accountable to results
- Meet with subcontractors and oversee quality, efficiency, and deadlines
- Read and interpret layout diagrams, technical drawings, and specifications
- Work alongside your crew as a lead service technician in varying weather and water conditions
Leadership & Mentorship
- Model professionalism, integrity, and positive company culture
- Mentor, train, and onboard new team members
- Complete performance reviews and support crew development
- Refine and implement divisional best practices and performance standards
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers
- Demonstrate shoreline stewardship using environmental best practices
Safety, Organization & Equipment Care
- Manage safety, quality, and productivity across all assigned job sites
- Ensure compliance with company and government PPE standards
- Maintain and enforce cleanliness and organization of trucks, trailers, equipment, and job sites
- Ensure daily preventative maintenance of tools and equipment
Project Reporting & Accountability

Complete and submit required daily logs, site meeting records, planning reports, equipment inspections, attendance tracking, and billing summaries

Monitor estimated vs. actual job hours and manage performance accordingly

The Seasonality
Dock Service peaks in spring and early fall. During mid-summer and late fall, there may be opportunities to contribute to other departments depending on workload and company needs.
