Ground Patrol is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of REAL property, staff, and guests. This includes regularly monitoring campus grounds, performing building checks, and reporting any disturbances or potential risks to prevent vandalism or damage. The role also involves responding to incidents as they occur, completing detailed incident reports, and enforcing parking regulations, including issuing tickets when necessary. Additionally, Ground Patrol staff may be required to supervise other team members in the absence of a designated supervisor. Other duties include:
1. Patrols and inspects in regular intervals, buildings, grounds, equipment and access points of the campus by foot and vehicle to prevent, detect, and respond to suspicious activity/irregularities and render necessary service to staff and guests by:
· Obtaining help by sounding alarms.
· Preventing losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers.
· Maintaining environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls.
2. Responds to security and emergency incidents on property and conducts investigations by:
· Making immediate and appropriate decisions in order to prevent or minimize personal injury and/or damage to personal and public property, working in a unified manner with Security Command Centre.
· Acting as an on-scene contact point for security and traffic events on campus working in a unified command capacity with local police, fire, and emergency health services agencies.
· Mitigates risk to the campus in an effort to ensure life safety and operational continuity.
3. Providing excellent customer service to guests, employees and the public by offering assistance where needed, finding balance and neutralizing high stress situations.
4. Performs regular parking enforcement in campus parking lots and roads in accordance with City of Regina parking regulations.
Other duties as defined and assigned on an as and when required basis.
Wage: $20.27 - 26.32
Shift: Saturday - Sunday 12:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.
Please be advised this is a Non-Permanent Part-Time position.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Must be Nineteen (19) years of age or older
- Grade twelve (12) or high school equivalent is required.
- Must have valid Serve-It-Right (SIRs) certification
Other
· The successful candidate must also possess and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check (CRC)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of computers and various programs including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.
- Formal training and/or work experience in the field of security services or crowd control is preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Physical ability to handle confrontational/violent/abusive/intoxicated situations.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral.
- Demonstrated experience in public relations
- Excellent decision making skills
- Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others
