Job Posting:#26-67Status:Permanent, Full-timePosting Closes: July 30, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.Schedule: 35 hours/week (7 hours/day) Working within Planning & Development Services and reporting to the Manager, Subdivision Planning or the Senior Planner, Subdivision Planning, the Planner I, Subdivision Planning is responsible for managing, reviewing and providing recommendations on subdivision planning projects. This may include leading applications for conceptual schemes, subdivisions, redistricting and development agreements, and naming and addressing, as well as advancing non-statutory plans, policies, reports and studies. This role also offers technical advice, promoting continuous improvement of programs, policies and representing to County on various committees. Additionally, this position provides sound planning advice to leaders and supports a range of planning projects, issues, and applications.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following
Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or a related field.
Master’s Degree in Planning or a related field is considered an asset
Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners and Registered Professional Planner designation in the Alberta Professional Planners Institute is desired Understanding of the application of Provincial and Municipal planning policies, legislation, processes, procedures, and Statutory Planning documents in the Alberta context Ability to take initiative to identify and resolve problems Ability to manage time effectively, juggle multiple deadlines and tasks, and to work within irregular and tight timelines. Ability to attend to details while keeping big-picture goals in mind Competent with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to create graphic designs, development strategies, and render site plans via sketches and/or computer graphics is highly desirable. Experience with geographic information systems (GIS) and computer assisted design (CAD) applications is an asset Requirements: Ability to primarily work in-person at Parkland County Centre – 53109A HWY 779, Parkland County, AB A valid class 5 driver’s license and current, satisfactory driver’s abstract provided upon hire A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required upon hire, excluding candidates under the age of 18 and current Parkland County employees Must be legally eligible to work in Canada In addition to an organizational priority for employee well-being, satisfaction and development, including access to an on-site gym, an Employee Family Assistant Program, free onsite counselling services, a social club, a health, safety and wellness committee, and comprehensive training and development opportunities, this position will be eligible for: A Starting Salary of: $83,100 to $89,900 per yearMax Salary Potential:$105,200 per year Benefits Including: Blue Cross Extended Health and Dental Defined Pension through LAPP Work/Life Balance:Option to join the Earned Day Off Program Vacation entitlement starting at 3 weeks Birthday off with pay Flexible work arrangements including option of one remote day per week
