The Department
Sitting within the School of Health, the Department of Practical Nurse and Health Care Aide offers an opportunity for students to complete either the Practical Nurse Diploma or the Health Care Aide Certificate. This sessional will instruct from Northwestern Polytechnic's Fairview Campus. Located in the heart of Alberta's Peace Country, Fairview Campus delivers state-of-the-art career programs & specialty training. Students benefit from smaller class sizes coupled with high-quality personalized instruction, ensuring ample opportunities for the learners of our region and students from across Canada and around the world.
The Role
The Practical Nurse and Health Care Aide department is seeking a Part Time Sessional Instructor to teach an 8-week clinical section from within the Practical Nurse Program. This role will run from 16-Feb-2026 to 24-April 2026 with clinical placements being held in Peace River & Fairview Hospitals.

Job Requirements
Applicants must hold a Practical Nurse Diploma or RN, have current registration with a regulatory body (CRNA or CLPNA) and have two years of full-time experience in nursing practice. Previous experience in teaching or supervision of students is desired. Experience with student centered learning approaches would be an asset. Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Successful candidates will be professionals with a positive attitude towards education; have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with students; be able to work independently and work collaboratively with colleagues; and demonstrate the ability to be self-directed and motivated. You will be able to give guidance and direction to others, creatively find solutions to challenges, and be aware of goals and vision of nursing education. Working knowledge with computers, word processing programs and Outlook would be an asset.
Candidates must be registered, have a current practice permit and be in good standing with the applicable health professional regulatory college in accordance with the Health Professions Act. The candidates who are notified for an interview will be required to provide their registration and practice permit at the time of the interview.
Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security screening.
