About The Role
As a Software Quality Engineer at Boomi, you will play a critical role in bridging traditional software quality practices with advanced AI quality methodologies. Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement comprehensive testing strategies that ensure the robustness of backend infrastructure and the quality of Generative AI features powering our applications. This role requires a deep understanding of automated testing, AI/ML quality assurance, and microservices architecture. You will develop testing frameworks, establish quality standards, and embed testing processes throughout the development lifecycle to deliver reliable, high-quality products. Your expertise will help ensure that Boomi’s products are production-ready, resilient, and meet the highest standards of quality in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field 2.5+ years of experience in software quality engineering, test automation, or related roles Strong proficiency in test automation frameworks such as pytest, unittest, Selenium, Playwright Proficiency in programming languages including Python or Java Experience building automated testing infrastructure for backend services and APIs Knowledge of various testing methodologies: unit, integration, end-to-end, contract, performance, TDD Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into deployment workflows Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments for testing and debugging Experience with testing AI/ML applications or LLM-based systems is preferred Knowledge of Generative AI concepts, agentic frameworks, and LLM capabilities/limitations Excellent communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, and Git
Responsibilities
Design and execute comprehensive test plans for backend services, APIs, and microservices architectures Collaborate with Backend Engineers, AI Engineers, and Product teams to understand requirements and identify quality risks early Develop automated testing frameworks and build end-to-end test suites to validate system integration Advocate for quality-first practices, influencing architectural decisions and embedding testing into the development process Design and implement automated evaluation frameworks for Generative AI features, including model testing and behavioral assessment Develop quality metrics and evaluation methodologies for AI/ML models, assessing accuracy, reliability, and consistency Create and maintain curated evaluation datasets and synthetic test data covering various scenarios Leverage AI evaluation tools and establish observability and monitoring requirements for backend and AI systems Implement quality gates, acceptance criteria, and comprehensive test documentation Build testing strategies for cloud and containerized environments, including performance and load testing Define and promote quality standards, testing methodologies, and best practices across teams Conduct code reviews focusing on testability, maintainability, and quality patterns Mentor junior quality engineers, sharing expertise in automation and AI testing approaches Communicate quality insights, risk assessments, and test results effectively to stakeholders
