Job Summary The Wealth Management Consultant Director, a key member of the Canadian Advisor Sales & Practice Solutions distribution team, will be responsible for working directly with financial advisors to increase sales and platform adoption of Envestnet’s offerings. This individual will support, promote and distribute Envestnet solutions to advisors across their assigned territory. The selected candidate will partner with other sales team members, marketing, key accounts and other stakeholders to distribute solutions to the marketplace.
Key tenets for this position will include strategic planning, development and prioritization of distribution opportunities, direct selling through a consultative approach and resolving advisor quandaries. The role requires a deep understanding of the fee-based advisory business, financial wellness solutions and the intersection of investment management with financial technology.
Job Responsibilities
- Platform Adoption: The candidate will consult with a wide range of investment advisors at our client firms who provide wealth management to high net worth and mass affluent clients. Through a consultative approach, the candidate will gain a sound understanding of advisors’ business models and will be able to identify opportunities to deliver improved processes, efficiencies and revenue by leveraging the full suite of services available on the Envestnet platform. The primary focus is on driving platform usage and adoption.
- Platform Training: The candidate will be the in-field expert on the Envestnet platform including the UMA and APM programs, and is expected to have deep knowledge of the investment products and solutions offered, proposal creation, account management and operational processes, as well as other product offerings and platforms at our client firms, and be comfortable leading group and individual training sessions.
- Promotion and Expansion of unified managed account (UMA) and advisor as portfolio manager (APM) solutions: Help advisors build a more efficient and profitable business with improved client outcomes through the adoption of UMA and APM programs. Identify opportunities to expand outsourced solutions in advisor practices and help facilitate transitions. This will include partnering with management at our client firms and asset managers to drive UMA and APM adoption and grow the assets under management. The sales process may involve guiding advisors on client account review and analysis, portfolio and model construction, and assisting on closing large opportunities.
- Practice Management: Play a critical role in working with advisors to develop best practices as it pertains to their wealth management businesses. This includes helping advisors build a model-based business and giving guidance on asset allocation, investment and product selection, book of business and client reporting, and leveraging internal and third-party resources.
- General Responsibilities: Efficiently manage your territory through virtual and in person meetings to achieve assigned annual goals, effectively leveraging the tools and technology provided, such as Salesforce and Calendly. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, competitors and strategic relationships/partnerships. Collaborate with key stakeholders across Envestnet to inform, develop, and strengthen Envestnet’s offering and position in the Canadian marketplace. Participate in industry events/conferences and maintain well documented records. Help promote and create awareness of Envestnet across Canada.
- Adherence to and application of Envestnet legal, compliance, risk, business continuity and administrative policy within the role and department(s) including the timely completion of training & awareness, affirmations and testing as requested.
- As part of the responsibilities for this role, you will understand and readily support Envestnet's established corporate business practices, policies, internal controls and procedures designed to create value or minimize risk.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of financial services experience, preferably in advisory platform/asset management sales.
- BA/BS in finance, business administration or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong understanding of the advisory business model and financial planning process.
- Developed and successfully executed product and go-to-market strategies within the financial services industry.
- 10+ years’ experience of working with financial advisors, managing a region and achieving sales quotas.
- Strong business acumen and exceptional organizational, communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent people and management skills to interact with clients, colleagues, cross-functional teams as well as third parties.
- Agile; able to identify and apply appropriate “win-win” solutions even in new situations.
- This is considered to be a hybrid sales role with travel up to 50%.
Preferred Qualifications
- CFP/CFA designation is a plus.
- Bilingual is an asset.
- Current relationships with financial advisors in southwestern Ontario and the GTA.
- Live in The Greater Toronto Area is preferred (Envestnet does not offer relocation expenses)
