This Position reports to:
Production Engineering Manager
ABB Installation Products is a leader in the manufacturing of specialized electrical products and has several factories around the world. The company manufactures a diverse range of connectors, electrical boxes, wall plates, cable trays, lighting products, electrical supplies, electrical poles, etc. for global markets.
ABB Installation Products is also one of the largest private employers in the St-Jean-sur-Richelieu region with its 2 factories. An automation intern position with a focus on machine safety is available at the St-Jean-sur-Richelieu plant, which is the main manufacturer of electrical boxes and fittings for commercial and industrial markets.
Your Role: Own the Challenge
- Participate in defining and implementing equipment modernization or modification projects for relocation to a new plant.
- Participate in an equipment modernization project prior to a safety project: electrical design, PLC programming, component selection, etc.
- Act as production support: participate in troubleshooting and implementing necessary corrective measures.
- Participate in the review of the lockout program.
- Participate in machine safeguarding in the plant: risk analysis, electrical design, design of movable and fixed guards.
- Design parts and sub-assemblies using 3D software (SolidWorks) to create detailed drawings for manufacturing.
What it takes to run what runs the world
- Be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Automated Production Engineering (GPA)
- Experience in mechanical design
- Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC/HMI programming
- Knowledge of ABB robots is an asset
- French is required. English is also required to communicate with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis.
