City of Langford Police Services – Casual Watch Clerks

If so, the City of Langford invites you to apply to be a casual Watch Clerk with the West Shore RCMP Detachment!

We currently have openings for multiple casual Watch Clerk positions to provide essential operational and administrative support to front-line officers. In the Watch Clerk role, you will be responsible for managing both digital and physical police files, preparing reports for Crown Counsel, and ensuring data accuracy across systems such as PRIME, CPIC, and JUSTIN. You will also record and process information from outside agencies, and facilitate communication in person, through radio, and mobile workstations.

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Grade 12 Diploma and a minimum of one (1) year experience in a police administrative environment

  • Required to sign Acceptable User Practices for RCMP Information Technology (procedures and practices related to security of information, including access to information, National and Departmental Security)

  • Successful completion of PRIME and UCR training, and CPIC certification

  • Considerable working knowledge of police databases and the Criminal Code of Canada

  • Ability to cope effectively with files containing graphic information

  • Strong time‐management and organizational skills

  • Ability to effectively multi‐task under pressure of heavy workload

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem‐solving skills

  • The ability to obtain and maintain security clearance is mandatory

The hours for the Watch Clerk Profile are 12-hour shifts; day shifts are 6:30am to 6:30pm and night shifts are 6:30pm to 6:30am. The salary for these positions is $39.41 per hour (2024 rates) plus 14% in lieu of benefits, vacation, and statutory holidays. This is a CUPE Local 374 position.
