Overview

The Writing Centre – Ad Hoc Writing Consultant

In accordance with article 6.2.2 (Notification of Courses) of the Contract Faculty Collective Agreement, applications are invited for an Ad Hoc Writing Consultant to be offered during the following sessions: Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 Writing Centre Writing Consultant tasks (7 to 15 hours/week) include:

  • meeting with students, online or in-person, to give feedback on their written work: organization, coherence, sentence structure, punctuation, grammar, expression, referencing and citations;
  • assessing Write for Success texts;
  • attending weekly meetings; and
  • developing handouts/workshops/programs to fulfill the sessional goals of the Writing Centre.

A successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree in English or English as a second language, and/or have English writing tutoring or teaching experience. Candidates should also have some knowledge of the uses of artificial intelligence in academic writing. Please note that this position requires the writing consultant to be physically present during their working hours at the Writing Centre.

Writing consultant hours shall be paid at 85% of the tutorial rate of $58.48/hour ($49.71) Qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview in late September.
