Position Description
As a key member of the IMT Project Management Office the Sr. Project Manager provides leadership and direction to stakeholders regarding the SickKids PMO philosophy, principles, standards and guidelines. Working closely with the Senior Manager of the PMO, the position will oversee delivery of multiple complex projects and provide support for the for the PMO team through coaching and leadership.
Here's What You'll Get To Do
- Oversee the project management life cycle for multiple complex projects, from initiation and planning through to execution and closure
- Responsible for multiple projects, which will run simultaneously, with varying degrees of complexity and large budgets ($3M+)
- Providing leadership to the project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
- Accountable to ensure projects are delivered on budget, within scope, and within the timelines set
- Conducting workflow analysis to establish project tasks, resource requirements (human, material, equipment and monetary), time frames, milestones and key deliverables of the project
- Establish project plans (in the form of Gantt charts, flowcharts, calendars, resource schedules, budgets, other reports, etc.) to ensure awareness and visibility for various project audiences
- Identifying project initiatives to be conducted within various senior management portfolios, in conjunction with the Department Director/Stakeholder and appropriate Senior Management Team Member(s), to enable the hospital to operate more effectively, based on an understanding of departmental and hospital strategic priorities
- Participating in the PMO in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
- As a senior member, you are expected to help lead the PMO team by example and with excellent communication skills, helping to bolster and continuously improve operations of the PMO
- As a demonstrated leader and visionary, mentoring and inspiring those working on their projects and within the program to new levels of success
- Demonstrate a functional acumen to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices
- Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders
- Act as an internal quality control check for the project
- The Senior Project Manager will draw upon his/her expert level negotiation skills, and conflict resolution strategies, to work with external and internal stakeholders, ensuring a win-win strategy for all parties
- Set and continually manage project and program expectations while delegating and managing deliverable with team members and stakeholders
- Develop and deliver comprehensive progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project team, sponsors, CIO and key stakeholders
- Deliver appropriate and effective executive level communication
- Working with cross-functional teams, this role will be responsible to obtain buy-in and support, to ensure the success of projects
- Collaborating with leaders and other Project Managers to coordinate dependencies across projects
Here's What You'll Need
- A PMP designation or a Masters Certificate in Project Management is required
- Exceptional and proven understanding of formal project management methodologies, documentation and processes
- Exceptional and proven understanding of formal people change management practices and strategies
- A minimum of 10 years experience directly responsible for managing large, complex projects
- Preference given to candidates with experience in a health care IT environment and/or with experience delivering complex projects which encompass a wide range of technologies
- Experience with overseeing multiple dependent projects and project staff, and creating comprehensive reporting documents
- Experience implementing vendor-supplied systems
- Experience managing/leading system integration projects
- Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge
- Exemplary communication (both verbal and written), facilitation and presentation skills
- Advanced knowledge of change, issue, and risk management and working knowledge of Software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery methodologies
- Ability to effectively influence, interact and collaborate with senior level management, and prepare and present oral and/or written technical reports and project presentations
- Ability to manage conflict with difficult stakeholders, project team members and/or external vendors
- Structured thinking and sound/logical judgments to influence change
- Ability to investigate, identify, and deliver strategic/tactical results
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, negotiating, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional facilitation, presentation, and leadership skills
- Excellent team collaboration and conflict management skills
- Creative, self-directed, innovative, results and detail oriented

Position Description
