Holland Bloorview is an academic health science centre affiliated with the University of Toronto, is Canada’s largest pediatric rehabilitation hospital, and is home to the Bloorview Research Institute. We serve young people from birth to 19 years old with disabilities, rehabilitation needs and complex health and developmental needs. The role is accountable to the Vice President, Medicine & Academic Affairs.

About the Extensive Needs Service

The Extensive Needs Service (ENS) provides wrap-around and interprofessional services for children and youth with neurodevelopmental disabilities in Ontario who have co-occurring urgent medical, physical and mental health complexities and/or social vulnerabilities.

The service is designed to reduce barriers to accessing timely, evidence-based, and trauma-informed treatment for some of the most vulnerable children in Ontario. ENS provides ambulatory treatment to children, youth and families who require an integrated approach across mental, behavioural and developmental health. The program provides a trauma-informed and compassionate approach. The clinical team includes a developmental pediatrician, nurse practitioner, registered nurses, OT, SLP, behaviour analysts, clinical pharmacy, coordinated service planning, registered dietitian and clinical psychology.

Holland Bloorview, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and McMaster Children’s Hospital are the three sites in Ontario leading this program funded by Ontario’s Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.
