About the Role:
Discovery Community College is committed to academic excellence and creating a dynamic, engaging learning environment. We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated on-site Community Support Worker (CSW) Instructor to guide and mentor students in our SSW (Social Service Worker) program at our site in Surrey, BC.
This role offers up to 26hours per week and has the potential to lead to future instructional opportunities, advancing your career in education.
Start date: Tuesday November 25, 2025
End date: Wednesday January 14,2026
Winter Break : December 22, 2025 to January 02,2026
Rate Range: $31.00-$33.00/hour
Schedule: Tuesday to Thursday (5:30pm to 9:30pm) Friday (8:30am to 5:00pm
Key Responsibilities:

Instruct and facilitate student learning in classroom and practical settings using college-provided curriculum and materials

Execute lesson plans using preset curriculum that aligns with PTIRU compliance (extensive in-house curriculum orientation and training provided).

Support and guide students in developing key community support skills and practices

Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and evaluations

Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
Qualifications:
- A certificate related to Community Support Work
AND
- At least 24 months of relevant occupational experience
OR
- 10 years of related occupational experience
- Prior teaching or mentoring experience
- Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Excel, etc.)
- Willingness to support and motivate adult learners
