The Opportunity

In order to address the challenges brought on by constrained system capacity, aging major assets, and environmental sustainability, BC Ferries has recently launched a new Fleet Renewal organization that will see a large number of new major and minor vessels introduced to the fleet in the near term as well as significant builds and upgrades to shore-based infrastructure and facilities. These projects together form the largest capital investment in the company’s history.

The Project Coordinator provides a comprehensive range of technical, administrative and project management support and coordination activities to the program and project team(s) in addition to BCFS internal and external project stakeholders.

The Project Coordinator may be required to travel abroad at shipyards on occasion and for extended periods of time.

The Role

Reporting to the Program Manager, Minor & Intermediate Vessels, this role is integral to the achievement of company objectives, and you contribute value through key areas of oversight such as:

  • Coordinates schedule for on-site acceptance team in shipyard, to ensure inspection activities are successfully completed.
  • Prepares procurement documents (Purchase Requisitions) for equipment, systems, and services. Receives goods and services and closes procurement activities.
  • Prepares, tracks and manages work orders for program activities.
  • Supports program and project managers by reporting on projects scope, schedule and budget progress as required.
  • Participates in design, construction and safety meetings; maintains records as required.

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied science, business or commerce, or combination of relevant work experience and education.
  • 1-3 years progressive experience in providing support to technical projects, preferably in a marine/technical environment.

Additional Information

The target salary range: $83,500 - $104,300 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidate’s knowledge and experience, and on internal equity.
