About the role
We're looking for an experienced System Performance Engineer IV to join a team delivering advanced Power System Protection & Control solutions. If you have hands-on experience with relay testing, protection schemes, commissioning, and substation automation, we'd love to connect with you.
Location: Onsite – Markham, Ontario
Key Responsibilities Analyze customer specifications, protection & control panel designs, single-line diagrams, schematics, logic diagrams, and wiring documentation. Develop customized relay test plans for power system protection applications. Create relay setting files based on coordination and protection studies. Configure relay communications, including IEC 61850. Execute secondary injection testing and validate complex protection and control schemes. Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site testing, commissioning, and field activities. Take ownership of assigned projects while collaborating with senior engineering teams. Provide technical guidance, peer reviews, and mentoring to team members.
Required Qualifications
Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering. 3–5 years of experience in relay testing and relay setting file development.
Strong knowledge of
Power system protection and control Protection schemes and communication systems Factory/site testing and commissioning Experience programming Multilin UR Series relays.
Strong understanding of protection principles including
Distance Line Differential Transformer Differential Bus Protection Feeder Protection Generator Protection Large Motor Protection Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Customer-focused with the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with turnkey Protection & Control projects. Familiarity with RTDS, ASPEN, EMTP, SKM, ETAP, or MATLAB. Knowledge of substation automation, metering, and communications. Experience with protection relay testing equipment. Lean Six Sigma certification and/or P.Eng designation is an asset.
