Student Office Assistant, Barrett Centre for Quality Improvement
About the role
The Barrett Centre for Quality Improvement (BCQI) is a key initiative within Unity Health Toronto’s Quality, Equity and Care Experience Portfolio, dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement (QI) at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. The BCQI supports staff, learners, and patient and family partners in advancing improvement initiatives that enhance health care outcomes.
Reporting to the BCQI Manager, the student will assist with day-to-day administrative operations, project coordination, and communications to ensure the smooth delivery of the BCQI. This position will provide valuable exposure to quality improvement initiatives while developing professional administrative skills.
Main Responsibilities

Provide administrative support to the BCQI, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes

Assist in the preparation of presentations, reports, and briefing notes
-
Support event coordination, including the Annual QI Symposium, workshops, and training sessions (e.g., venue booking, invitations, materials preparation)

Maintain organized digital filing systems for program materials, and communications
-
Assist with tracking and updating BCQI implementation timelines, deliverables, and key performance indicators
-
Assist with the preparation and distribution of newsletters, and announcements to stakeholders
-
Assist with data entry, formatting documents, and conducting basic research or literature reviews as required

Provide support for travel arrangements, expense tracking, and budget documentation
-
Other duties as assigned to support the BCQI team
Qualifications
-
Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Office Administration, Business Administration, Health Administration, or a related field
-
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
-
Detail-oriented, with a high level of accuracy in document preparation and data entry
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
-
Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information
-
Interest in health care quality improvement and innovation is an asset
