SCOPE OF THE POSITION

The Environment & Training Coordinator supports the Operational Excellence - HSEQ team by assisting in the implementation and continuous improvement of ConeTec Group’s environmental, sustainability, and training initiatives. Under the direction of the Vice President, this role ensures the effective delivery of HSEQ policies, procedures, and programs across the organization while supporting operational teams in maintaining strong environmental compliance and performance standards.

The position also offers strong potential for growth. As ConeTec’s operations expand, so does the need for HSEQ support, creating opportunities for the coordinator to take on increased responsibilities and potentially support or manage environmental or training initiatives across additional jurisdictions.

OVERALL GOALS FOR POSITION

  • Support the processes executed by all Operational Excellence-HSEQ team members while championing specifically Environment and Training as a subject matter expert.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of the ConeTec Group of Companies environmental and sustainability programs, policies, and management systems.
  • Track, analyze, and report environmental performance data to support emissions reduction, waste minimization, and impact‑reduction initiatives.
  • Promote a strong environmental culture through engagement, training support, and collaboration with field and office teams.
  • Provide practical environmental support to operations, including site visits, audits, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in Group Vision and Objectives to ensure our training goals for company and staff become a reality. Facilitate the management and creation of training programs for the ConeTec Group of Companies as well as the coordination of 3rd party services utilized by the company.

ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

Detailed responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Environmental Coordination - Primary Role

  • Fulfill the roles and responsibilities of an HSEQ employee as listed in the HSEQ manual.
  • Assist in the ongoing development of the HSEQ program.
  • Fulfill the completion of Environmental quarterly and annual reporting required for the ConeTec Group of Companies.
  • Work with the Vice President to develop and communicate Environmental – Green Culture policies and procedures to staff and clients.
  • Provide HSEQ support and advice regarding the implementation of carbon footprint and sustainability policies, standards, campaigns and initiatives as required.
  • Proactively manage risk; communicate Environmental issues and identify key Environmental risks and initiate corrective and/or preventive actions and suggestions in a timely manner.
  • Respond to environmental incidents, near misses, and leading indicators. Ensure complete and timely reporting. Reporting in turn sent to regional HSEQ Management and the Vice President. Identify corrective action plans for environmental lagging and leading indicators and help to close out items in a timely manner. Communicate learnings to relevant stakeholders.

Training Coordination - Secondary Role

  • Inventory and facilitate training information for the HSEQ team which will assist the coordinated efforts with Human Resources and Training & Development Management.
  • Assist in the creation of Group training events and seminars. Work with the Vice President to create HSEQ and Operational training programs for the Group of Companies to in turn support HSEQ and HR objectives.

Operational Excellence-HSEQ Support Functions – Ancillary Roles

  • Assist in the onboarding of new employees and orientation of visitors and subcontractors if support is required and designated staff members are away from office.
  • Support the Company Security Officer with security clearance information for designated projects. Achieve Assistance Company Security Officer (ACSO) designation.
  • Facilitate HSEQ information and compliance for the offices and projects visited during scheduled visits, providing HSEQ advisor support.
  • Assist with Group online HSEQ and Fleet Applications. The candidate will be trained to help staff members with the applications should designated staff members be away from office.
  • While HSEQ duties are a primary focus, all HSEQ staff may be asked on occasion to help in operations which in turn strengthens skills and knowledge overall.
  • Assist with office administration and the coordination of logistics. Support operational training of field staff and participate in company training programs.

Schedules

  • As part of the responsibilities of this position this person will need to travel from their home location on occasion. One trip per month is likely to occur.
  • While efforts will be made to provide consistent scheduling, it must be understood by the candidate this position may require deployment with short notice for Environmental matters outside the norm.
  • If another HSEQ representative takes vacation time, the candidate may be asked to work an extended/altered shift to cover their colleague’s time. The candidate may receive compensated time off later if requested. Seminars for further certification and personal development will be provided. (1+ trip per year as directed by the Vice President.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Post-secondary Diploma/Certificate from an accredited college, university or technical institution in Health, Safety or Environment is an asset.

  • Designations including NCSO, CRST or CRSP are an asset.

  • Previous field experience is an asset.

  • Experience with ISO 9001, 14001, and/or 45001 designations is an asset. Experience in Environmental and Sustainability roles is an asset.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong appreciation, understanding company, and respect for HSEQ policies and procedures.

  • Must possess the ability to be a self-directed person.

  • Ability to interpret and apply HSEQ policies and standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate business and HSEQ goals, objective and targets.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including report writing and oral presentations.

  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to foster strong working relationships. Must enjoy performing a wide variety of duties and be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Working Conditions

  • Primary location: Based in one of our Group of Companies facilities. Occasional travel to operations.
