JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Business Systems Analyst – TMS is a strategic, hands-on leadership role that blends deep business analysis expertise, advanced Blue Yonder TMS functional knowledge, and the technical leadership capabilities of a TMS Technology Lead. This role is responsible for the end-to-end technology solution – from business requirements and solution architecture through implementation, optimization, and long-term roadmap planning.The ideal candidate will not only translate complex transportation and logistics needs into scalable Blue Yonder TMS solutions but will also provide technical and functional leadership across TMS initiatives. This includes guiding solution design decisions, overseeing integrations, establishing best practices, mentoring junior analysts, and partnering with IT and business leaders to ensure the TMS platform supports current and future business objectives.(existing role)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Analysis & Strategic Solution Design:

  • Lead enterprise-level analysis of transportation, freight, and logistics processes to define functional, technical, and non-functional requirements for Blue Yonder TMS.
  • Partner with senior business stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and translate them into scalable TMS solution designs.
  • Develop end-to-end solution blueprints, including process flows, functional specifications, and high-level technical architecture.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, providing recommendations on how TMS capabilities can be leveraged to improve service levels, reduce cost, and enable growth.

TMS Technology Leadership & Architecture:

  • Serve as the functional and technical lead for Blue Yonder TMS within the organization.
  • Define and govern TMS architecture standards, configuration guidelines, and best practices.
  • Design scalable, resilient Blue Yonder TMS architectures that support multi-site, multi-business-unit operations.
  • Evaluate new Blue Yonder features, releases, and related technologies, making recommendations for adoption and roadmap alignment.
  • Provide architectural oversight to ensure solutions are supportable, secure, and aligned with enterprise IT standards.

System Implementation, Configuration & Integrations:

  • Lead complex Blue Yonder TMS implementations, upgrades, and enhancements, including configuration, testing, and deployment.
  • Oversee and guide system integrations between Blue Yonder TMS and ERP, WMS, Order Management, carrier networks, and external partners.
  • Ensure proper use of APIs, EDI, middleware, and data integration patterns.
  • Review and validate detailed designs and configurations completed by internal teams or external vendors.

Optimization, Automation & Innovation:

  • Design and implement advanced TMS capabilities such as automated load planning, carrier tendering strategies, freight audit and settlement, and exception management.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to optimize transportation planning, execution, and visibility through system enhancements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives leveraging TMS data, analytics, and automation.

Support, Governance & Continuous Improvement:

  • Provide senior-level support for complex production issues, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization.
  • Establish governance processes for change management, enhancements, and release planning.
  • Ensure high system availability, performance, and user satisfaction.
  • Act as the escalation point for TMS-related functional and technical issues.

Training, Documentation & Mentorship:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive solution documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration guides, and functional specifications.
  • Lead advanced training sessions for super users, analysts, and technical teams.
  • Mentor and coach Business Systems Analysts and junior TMS resources, fostering skill development and best practices.
  • Lead knowledge transfer activities to ensure sustainable internal ownership of the TMS platform.

Cross-Functional & Vendor Collaboration:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between IT, transportation operations, finance, and external vendors.
  • Lead design and review workshops with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Manage and coordinate work performed by external Blue Yonder consultants and technology partners.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Computer/Software Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field
  • Relevant certifications in Supply Chain, Transportation, or Blue Yonder solutions are considered an asset.

EXPERIENCE

  • 7–10+ years of experience with Transportation Management Systems, with significant hands-on experience in Blue Yonder TMS.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale TMS implementations, upgrades, and optimization initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience acting as a solution or technology lead within supply chain or logistics environments.
  • Strong background in business systems analysis, solution architecture, and cross-functional project leadership.
  • Experience in industries such as 3PL, retail, e-commerce, manufacturing, or distribution preferred.
  • Prior experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure), analytics tools (e.g., Power BI), and data-driven decision-making is an asset.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Expert-level knowledge of Blue Yonder TMS modules, configuration tools, and underlying business logic.
  • Strong understanding of transportation planning, execution, freight optimization, and settlement processes.
  • Extensive experience with system integrations using API, EDI, middleware, and SQL-based data access.
  • Ability to design, review, and validate technical and functional solution architectures.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, release management, and enterprise application support models.
