About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and relationship-driven Individual Giving Coordinator to help grow a vibrant and impactful donor community. You’ll help shape and execute donor engagement strategies, support multi-channel campaigns, and bring fresh ideas to enhance donor retention and acquisition. The role offers meaningful exposure to all aspects of individual giving.

About Us

At the Calgary Food Bank our mission is “to make food accessible to everyone in our city”. Our core belief that no one in our community should go without food continues to serve as our guiding principle for the future. We are the first line of emergency food support for people facing crisis serving over 200,000 Emergency Food Hampers to our community last year. We also provide over 80 partner charities throughout the city with food. As an organization, we pride ourselves on being client centered, community focused, and committed to excellence in both our operations and culture.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement, the Individual Giving Coordinator plays a central role in the donor journey. You’ll be the first point of contact for many donors, helping create a seamless and positive giving experience while supporting strategies that strengthen donor retention and growth. This is a dynamic role where relationship-building, attention to detail, and strategic thinking come together to make a real difference.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a primary contact for donors, responding to inquiries by phone and in person with professionalism and care
  • Manage and process gifts in all forms (cash, cheques, credit cards, direct deposits, monthly contributions, stock donations, and legacy gifts), ensuring accuracy from entry through to tax receipting
  • Steward relationships with core and lapsed donors ($1–$5,000 annually), supporting re-engagement efforts and deepening donor connection
  • Collaborate with Community Engagement and Fund Development teams to generate reports, provide insights, and support stewardship planning
  • Maintain accurate donor records in Salesforce
  • Assist with campaign coding and collaborate across teams to ensure donations are allocated correctly
  • Support the monthly giving program
  • Assist with legacy giving portfolios, including wills and estates
  • Train and guide volunteers involved in stewardship activities
  • Contribute across all areas of the Community Engagement department, supporting a wide range of initiatives

What You Bring

  • Diploma or degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Solid understanding of the nonprofit sector
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce
  • Strong knowledge of CRA tax receipting guidelines and commitment to staying current with evolving regulations
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Clear and confident communicator, with the ability to explain complex processes in an approachable way
  • Collaborative mindset with sound judgment and the ability to engage others effectively
  • Experience working with and supporting volunteers, including training and coaching
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

What Makes This Role Exciting

This is more than a coordination role—it’s an opportunity to be at the heart of how generosity is experienced. Every day brings something different: connecting with donors, solving challenges, collaborating with passionate colleagues, and ensuring that every contribution is recognized and valued. If you enjoy meaningful work that blends people, process, and purpose, you’ll find this role both rewarding and energizing.

Perks & Benefits:

  • A competitive compensation and benefit package including RRSP and Board approved performance bonuses
  • On-site gym
  • Generous wellness days
  • Staff Development Days throughout the year
