About FVSP

Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry (FVSP) is a well-established, family-owned

poultry company with over 50 years of history in British Columbia. Unlike a typical distributor, we manage the full process — from farm production and processing to distribution and sales — serving restaurants, retailers, and food service customers across the Lower Mainland.

We take pride in a friendly, supportive, and team-oriented work environment

where every team member is valued and plays a meaningful role in our day-to-day success. If you enjoy working with food, building relationships, and being part of a close-knit team — this is the place for you.

The Role

Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Live

Haul Driver to transport live poultry from our farms to our processing facility during overnight hours, Sunday through Thursday. This role is critical to our supply chain, ensuring birds arrive safely, on schedule, and in a manner that supports our animal welfare standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a live haul truck and trailer to transport live poultry between farms and the processing facility during overnight shifts.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with National Safety Code (NSC) requirements.
  • Load and unload live birds with care, following animal welfare best practices to minimize stress, injury, and mortality.
  • Coordinate pickup and delivery timing with farm staff and plant receiving to keep the nightly haul schedule on track.
  • Maintain accurate and timely trip logs, bills of lading, mileage records, and other required documentation.
  • Perform basic equipment checks and report any mechanical issues, damage, or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Ensure trucks and trailers are cleaned, sanitized, and biosecure between loads to prevent cross-contamination between farms.
  • Follow all biosecurity protocols when entering and exiting farm sites, including wash stations and protective equipment requirements.
  • Communicate proactively with dispatch, farm crews, and the Production and Distribution Manager regarding delays, road conditions, or animal welfare concerns.
  • Comply with all provincial and federal transportation regulations, hours-of-service rules, and company safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-functioning vehicle at all times.
  • Support a culture of safety, cleanliness, and animal welfare on every run.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support live haul operations.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Valid Class 1 driver's with a clean driving record.
  • Comfortable working overnight shifts, Sunday to Thursday, in all weather conditions.
  • Experience hauling livestock or poultry is a strong asset; experience with trailers of similar size and configuration is required.
  • Physically able to lift and handle crates of live birds, and to work outdoors during loading and unloading.
  • Strong understanding of, or willingness to learn, animal welfare handling practices and biosecurity protocols.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently overnight with minimal direct supervision.
  • Good communication skills for coordinating with farm staff, dispatch, and plant receiving.

  • Paid orientation
  • 20% discount at our retail store
  • A safe, food-safety focused workplace where teamwork matters.

About Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry

Food and Beverage Manufacturing
51-200
Founded in 1973

OUR FAMILY LOVES TO FARM AND PRODUCE GOOD FOOD. That’s our motto, but it’s not just words to us. We’ve farmed in the Fraser Valley for five generations. Being connected to the land, living together and working with our animals and fields – that’s what the good life means to us. It also means sharing the good food we grow, and seeing what other families create for their dinner table.

FROM OUR FARM TO YOUR FAMILY. Everything is done on our farm, and sent straight to you. We take care of every aspect of raising top quality poultry From laying eggs, to raising chickens and ducks, to butchering, packaging, and shipping, everything is done from our farm. We call it “full circle” farming. When you order poultry from us, you know that everything was raised, processed, and packaged for you in the Fraser Valley, all at the same location at our family farm. We go above and beyond the rules and regulations for health and safety, including daily sanitation of our plant, sanitized work outfits for our employees, and training in hand-washing with the addition of protective gloves.

BEST PRACTICES IN ANIMAL WELFARE. We control every step the goes into raising our specialty poultry, and we care about giving our flocks the best living conditions possible. When you allow your birds to thrive, the result is a top-quality product. Every detail is important to us. That’s why we feed our flocks Canadian whole grains raised by Canadian farmers, we provide fresh water direct from our aquifer (no city water for our birds), and lay down fresh wood-chip bedding. Every single kind of poultry we produce is free run, and enjoys spacious cage-free barns with plenty of natural light. There are no added hormones, animal byproducts in any of our poultry. The health of our birds are monitored constantly.
