On the heels of our $122M USD Series D funding , we’re racing ahead with an exciting product roadmap and are looking for a Finance & Accounting Manager (CPA) to support our growth. Reporting directly to our Director of Finance, this role will focus heavily on core operational responsibilities such as accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), payroll, expense management, and month-end close.

A Note on Location This is a hybrid role based in Toronto, with the preference for being on-site once per week. All candidates must be eligible to work in Canada, and live within reasonable commuting distance of our Toronto office for in person meetings.

The Opportunity We’re looking for a hands-on, operational finance professional to join our team as a Finance & Accounting Manager. This role is designed for someone with experience in operational finance and accounting, ideally in smaller to mid-sized companies.The position is not just basic bookkeeping, while you’ll own accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end bookkeeping, you’ll also contribute to automation initiatives, vendor selection, and process improvement projects that will help scale Blue J’s business.There are many growth opportunities within the finance team, with opportunities to take on strategic projects, IFRS transition work, and automation-led process improvements.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage full-cycle operational accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general bookkeeping.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and support reporting requirements.
  • Partner with the Director of Finance to optimize operational processes, reduce manual work, and implement automation solutions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and GTM teams to ensure financial strategies align with operational goals.
  • Leverage existing tools like NetSuite Salesforce, Stripe and emerging AI-driven finance solutions to streamline accounting and reporting processes.

What You Offer Blue J

  • 3+ years of operational finance or accounting experience, ideally in small to mid-sized companies.
  • CPA designation.
  • Proven experience managing AP, AR, payroll, and month-end bookkeeping.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance.
  • Prior experience with NetSuite is preferred but not required.
  • Hands-on experience with automation initiatives and a willingness to champion technology adoption to reduce manual work.
  • Familiarity with IFRS accounting standards (or a willingness to learn as we transition).
  • A process-driven, detail-oriented mindset, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A growth mindset, eager to take on projects beyond core accounting and contribute to scaling the business.
