About the role
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Food Services and under the direct supervision of the Catering Coordinator, the General Worker will prepare for, assemble, deliver, and pick up catering requests according to the client’s needs. The role is primarily focused on catering; however, when demands are low, the General Worker could be assigned additional tasks from the Food Service Supervisor. These tasks include but are not limited to; distributing par-stock items to units, assists in the simple preparation and portioning of food as per duty lists, replenishes stock, assists in cleaning throughout the department, serves, takes orders, distributes meals to patients through dial for dining room service, and works as part of a team in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of the service.
Hours of Work
Shifts range from 3.0 to 11.25 hours. Monday-Sunday, days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. 24-hour operation. Flexible hours and backshifts are required.
Your Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Recent experience/training in a food service setting required.
- Food Handlers Course required (or willingness to maintain within one year of hire).
- WHMIS required (or willingness to maintain within six months of hire).
- Must have demonstrated teamwork, interpersonal and communication (both verbal & written) skills.
- Must have strong customer service skills.
- Competencies in other languages an asset.
