Fondé en 1848, L’Institut Canadien de Québec est un organisme culturel à but non lucratif réunissant des gens passionnés et dynamiques voués à la démocratisation du savoir et de la culture, motivés par l’innovation et l’excellence. Gestionnaire de bibliothèques publiques dans la ville de Québec, L’Institut se consacre aussi à la diffusion de la littérature, des arts de la scène et de l’art contemporain.

L'Institut est le mandataire de la Ville de Québec pour la gestion de plusieurs bibliothèques publiques ainsi que pour les services de soutien au Réseau des bibliothèques de la Ville de Québec. L'Institut Canadien de Québec possède une vaste expertise dans la mise en réseau des bibliothèques publiques, l'animation culturelle, les communications en bibliothèque et l'informatique documentaire.

Dans le domaine littéraire, L'Institut a pour projet de transformer la Salle de L'Institut (ancien temple Wesley dans le Vieux-Québec) en Maison de la littérature. Déjà, L'Institut présente chaque automne le festival littéraire Québec en toutes lettres et gère la mesure de soutien à la relève Première Ovation en arts littéraires.
