This position plays a key role in supporting NorQuest College’s brand, marketing, and institutional communications. Reporting to the Manager of Visual Communications, the Graphic Designer delivers visually engaging, inclusive, and accessible design solutions across a wide range of digital and print formats. Working within established brand guidelines and strategic priorities, this role collaborates with internal partners to transform complex information into clear and effective visual communication. By providing high-quality design that reflects the diversity of NorQuest’s learners and community, this position strengthens the college’s reputation and supports its marketing, recruitment, and engagement goals.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Develop creative concepts and produce digital and print designs aligned with institutional brand and strategic priorities.
  • Translate complex information into clear, visually compelling formats for diverse audiences.
  • Consistently apply NorQuest’s visual identity standards to ensure cohesive and high-quality brand expression.
  • Prepare production-ready files and manage version control, file organization, and asset libraries.
  • Collaborate with internal clients, project managers, and marketing partners to deliver effective design solutions.
  • Provide creative guidance, design recommendations, and support throughout project lifecycles.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by enhancing workflows, templates, and processes.
  • Stay current with design, accessibility, and industry trends to uphold best practices.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor of Design specialized in Visual Communications or a minimum two-year diploma in Graphic Design, or an equivalent post-secondary program.
  • 2-4 years of professional graphic design experience with digital and print assets.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • A strong understanding of design principles, brand management, typography, colour theory, layout, accessibility (WCAG), and inclusive design.
  • Experience producing production-ready artwork and working within established brand systems.

WHAT MAKES YOU A DIFFERENCE MAKER?

As a difference maker, you bring experience in:

  • Applying and maintaining brand standards across diverse materials and platforms.
  • Producing accessible, inclusive designs and incorporating WCAG guidelines.
  • Photo editing, retouching, and manipulation to support high-quality visual output.
  • Creating motion graphics, animations, or storyboards (experience with After Effects and/or Premiere Pro is considered an asset).
  • Developing effective visual concepts informed by strong problem-solving and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and maintaining well-organized asset libraries.
  • Collaborating with clients and stakeholders, gathering requirements, and providing clear, strategic design recommendations.
  • Communicating design rationale clearly to non-designers and contributing to cross-departmental initiatives.

You must submit a portfolio of work with your submission. Applications without a portfolio submitted will not be reviewed. Be advised that this is an Edmonton-based role and there is an expectation to be in the office 2 days a week.

**SALARY:**AUPE Band Level 6 | Technician III | $49,129 - $63,854 annually reflective upon what you bring. reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. Our services reach from Drayton Valley in the southwest, to Whitecourt in the northwest, and to Wetaskiwin in the southeast, encompassing 26 communities.
