About the role
SMA Representative Required for Physician Compensation for Quality Improvement Program (PCQIP) Oversight Committee
A SMA representative is needed for the PCQIP Oversight Committee. The PCQIP Oversight Committee comprises representatives from the SMA, Ministry and Saskatchewan Health Authority, with input and advice from a non-voting member from the Health Quality Council. It is responsible for reviewing and approves applications for PCQIP funding. The SMA and Ministry provide PCQIP funding as part of the current Ministry / SMA negotiated agreement.
Under the PCQIP, physicians are eligible to be compensated for their time on approved QI projects and training.
The time commitment of a member of the PCQIP Oversight Committee is variable (as it is dependent on the number of applications received), but one can expect up to 10 – 15 hours per year. Most of this time is spent reviewing applications, which may be done on your own time, with results shared via email. Physicians are compensated for their PCQIP committee work.
Any physician with interest and experience in quality improvement, and who has been involved in QI projects would be well suited for this opportunity.
