The Communications Specialist plays a key role in shaping and delivering Provincial Credit Union’s voice across all channels. This position is responsible for developing and executing communications that support organizational priorities, strengthen member relationships, and enhance public presence. From crafting compelling content to managing social media and ensuring consistency in brand voice and accessibility, the Communications Specialist brings both strategic thinking and strong execution to every aspect of communications.
What You’ll Do
Communications Strategy & Execution Contribute to the development, implementation, and ongoing evolution of the communications strategy in alignment with organizational goals. Research, write, edit, and publish high-quality communications materials, including press releases, public statements, campaigns, and web content. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop targeted communications that are clear, accurate, and aligned with brand standards. Monitor communication channels and identify emerging issues or risks; escalate appropriately in accordance with established processes.
Social Media Management
Support the development and execution of an annual social media strategy aligned with organizational priorities. Plan, develop, and manage social media content calendars to ensure consistent, timely, and relevant messaging Coordinate with internal teams to develop and adapt content, including visual assets, for platform-specific requirements. Monitor, analyze, and report on social media performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
What You Have
Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree, or College diploma in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 3-5 years of professional experience in a communications-focused role.
Skills and Abilities
Strategic Communication: Ability to develop and execute communications strategies that align with organizational goals and brand positioning. Written Communication: Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and accurate content across multiple formats and audiences. Content Development: Experience creating professional communications and marketing copy, including long-form web content and campaign materials. Social Media Management: Knowledge of social media strategy, platform best practices, audience engagement, and content scheduling. Accessibility & Compliance: Working knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive communication practices, including alt text, captions, and usability best practices. Analytical Thinking: Ability to track performance metrics, analyze results, and report on communications and social media effectiveness. Independence & Initiative: Proven ability to manage work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
