Mississauga, ON Furcon is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Project Coordinator. The Project Coordinator role is an important, fast-paced position with responsibilities including liaising with stakeholders, preparing and revising critical documentation, and working with the Project Manager to manage numerous construction projects from beginning to closeout.
This role will support our Peel region team in executing healthcare facility renovation and expansion projects. This is a full-time, permanent position with opportunities for growth within the company. The role offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities This role involves assisting the Project Manager with numerous aspects of construction projects at various stages of completion. The role will be dynamic, with varied responsibilities depending on the project and phase. Likely responsibilities and duties include:
- Monitoring tender and bid websites for potential projects that fit the company’s abilities and goals
- Assisting with creating documentation for project bids including reviewing bid documents and drawings, completing material takeoffs, notifying subcontractors, and issuing questions to clients
- Attending project site visits to review and document scope of work.
- Preparation of cost estimates for renovation and expansion projects.
- Creation of project schedules, workflows, and construction cost estimates/invoices
- Issuing, monitoring and organizing Requests for Information, change orders, purchase orders, etc...
- Assisting with project documentation reviews, drawing and specification conflict resolutions, and materials ordering and distribution
- Liaising with clients, Furcon staff, and subcontractors in order to ensure smooth project delivery
- Assisting with the creation, review, and maintenance of projects database
- Organizing meetings between clients, staff, and subcontractors; taking, organizing, and distributing meeting minutes
- Organization of distribution of client Change Orders to staff and subcontractors
- Procurement of permits and approvals from regulatory bodies and government agencies
- Preparation and submission of closeout project documents.
Required Qualifications Education
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Civil/Structural preferred) (or similar)
- Project Management Diploma and/or construction experience
Employment Experience
- 1+ year(s) construction (or similar industry) project coordination experience
Skills & Abilities
- Experience working in contracting or construction industry considered an asset
- Experience with construction in healthcare facilities considered an asset
- High attention to detail
- Understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, standards, and codes preferred
- Ability to read and understand Request for Proposal and bid request documents considered an asset
- Experience with construction cost estimation (preferred)
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write technical documents, requests for information, and bid documents
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders across various projects
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage numerous aspects of projects in different phases of completion
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products
Other
- Valid G-Class driver’s license
- Fluency in written and spoken English

Salary
$60,000-$70,000/year salaried, respectful of your experience and education

Location
Office located in Mississauga, ON. Most work (80-90%) will be done in the office, while the remainder may require travel to sites in Halton Region, Peel Region, Toronto, and York Region.
Schedule
This role is a 8 hours/day, 5 days/week role with some requirements for evenings/weekend on-call support.
