About the role

Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Nats’oojeh Hospital.

In alignment with the vision, mission, values and strategic priorities of the Northern Health and reporting to the Manager or designate, the Clinical Transformation Nurse (RN/RPN) supports designated units by delivering in-person education to facilitate the implementation of Safer Care.

As a member of the Safer Care implementation team the Clinical Transformation Nurse (RN/RPN) provides clinical support before, during, and after Safer Care activation in all acute facilities. This role involves organizing and actively participating in learning sessions for workflow reviews, skill enhancement, and practice changes through both formal and informal sessions.

The Clinical Transformation Nurse (RN/RPN) attends Safer Care Readiness meetings, sharing resources and updates with clinical teams. This position aids acute care teams in preparing for the upcoming go-live of Safer Care by offering clinician support, tracking common issues, escalating problems, providing occasional implementation specific workload support, and assisting with issue resolution and system troubleshooting for frontline clinicians and clinical leaders in collaboration with the Safer Care team.

This role requires collaborative efforts with clinical teams and leadership, serving as a knowledgeable guide to provide insights on new features or modifications to existing program workflows. Travel to various Acute Care Sites based on operational needs may be required. If applicable, transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Northern Health in accordance with the service assignment, and the incumbent must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days, 08:00 to 16:00

Nats’oojeh Hospital and Health Centre
This new state-of-the-art facility is three times the size of the previous hospital and includes 27 beds, with 18 long-term care and 9 acute-care beds. It features an expanded emergency department, larger laboratory and diagnostic imaging spaces, and has been designed to be welcoming to everyone, reflecting local Indigenous culture.

The new facility has improved the healing environment and provides culturally safe care for residents of Fort St. James, surrounding areas, and local Indigenous communities.

Fort St. James is Located on the southeast shore of Stuart Lake is the district of Fort St. James. The town has been restored as a national historic site and has a total population of approximately 4,500. The main industries in Fort St. James are forestry, mining and tourism. The town is also a scenic gateway to a 300 km network of lakes and rivers. Fort St. James is well serviced, has affordable housing and is close to big city amenities. Qualifications
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant.

  • Minimum of two (2) years recent relevant nursing experience.

  • Extensive experience working with personal computers.

  • Valid BC Driver’s License.

  • Ability to deal effectively with members of the health care team.

  • Effective interpersonal, organizational, and teaching skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.

  • Knowledge of the resources and support services required for the transition from paper to electronic documentation and orders

  • Ability to demonstrate required technique for planning, problem solving, and documentation

  • Experience participating in quality improvement initiatives.

  • Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize.

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
