What is the Position? Evercore seeks to hire an Experienced Investment Banking Analyst for its Canadian Advisory Group located in Toronto.
Group Description: The Canadian Investment Banking Advisory Group at Evercore advises Canadian corporates and financial sponsors on strategic and financial transactions across sectors including TMT, consumer, industrials, financial services, healthcare, real estate, energy, infrastructure, and transportation. Operating as a generalist team based in Toronto, the group delivers comprehensive coverage across Canada, collaborating closely with Evercore’s global industry and product groups to provide tailored, high-impact advice on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, restructurings, and other strategic initiatives. Leveraging Evercore’s international platform and network, the group also plays an active role in cross-border transactions involving Canadian clients and international counterparties.
Primary Responsibilities: Evercore’s differentiated approach to advisory provides Investment Banking Analysts with the ability to work closely with senior bankers on industry-transforming, multi-billion-dollar transactions around the world. The small transaction team structure creates a strong platform for Investment Banking Analysts to learn investment banking and assume high levels of responsibility at early stages of their careers. As part of the team, the Experienced Investment Banking Analyst will have the opportunity to work on a variety of strategic advisory assignments including: sellside and buyside M&A engagements; activism and raid defense; divestitures and spin-off engagements; equity and equity-linked capital-raising; special committee engagements; debt and restructuring advisory and, more broadly, evaluation of strategic alternatives.
Specific Qualifications: Candidates must have a strong interest in investment banking with solid quantitative and analytical skills, as well as the ability to think broadly about a range of strategic issues confronting the firm’s clients. Knowledge of accounting, finance, valuation and business strategy is a must. Responsibilities for an Experienced Investment Banking Analyst include interfacing with clients to resolve complex financial and strategic issues, managing and executing live deal situations, facilitating due diligence, drafting client presentation materials, assisting with new business development and executing and overseeing financial and valuation analysis.
- 6+ months of Investment Banking or relevant work experience
- Undergraduate degree with outstanding academic achievement
- Excellent grasp of corporate finance, valuation, and financial accounting
- Superior analytical skills and demonstrated excellence in academic coursework
- Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to work well in teams and articulate ideas
- Strong communications skills, both written and oral
- Enthusiastic, outgoing, and achievement-oriented character
