Job Title: Operations Supervisor – Retail
Status: Full Time, Permanent
Location: GTA West (Etobicoke, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Erin, Bolton, Georgetown)
Salary: $50,000 to $60,000
About the Role:
Due to recent growth, we are in search of our next Operations Supervisor to add to our growing Alpine family! Servicing one of our valued retail clients, the Operations Supervisor supervises a group of locations within the GTA West territory, managing subcontractors to ensure the scope of work is completed, providing training, liaising with the client’s Site Managers, resolving issues and preventing escalations, and conducting inspections to assure quality service delivery. The Operations Supervisor acts as the first point of contact for the client regarding operational service delivery, escalations, and work orders. Working with the Senior Director of Operations, and the GTA retail team, this role is key in executing the contract obligations for the retail portfolio in the GTA.
Key Responsibilities:
Subcontractor Management
- Participates in the hiring, training, and supervision of subcontractors and their activities
- Ensures that subcontractors are compliant with requirements such as security clearances, GST, business licensing, WSIB, liability insurance, etc.
- Ensures that Alpine standards are adhered to through subcontractor work
- Conducts regularly scheduled audits and/or site inspections to ensure that work is completed as required and per expectations
- Ensures cleaning supplies meet contracted requirements and are being replenished accordingly.
Client Relations Management
- Liaises with clients to ensure that performance standards are met and complaints are addressed
- Participates in same-site growth (additional services, additional square footage, additional fees)
- Contributes to new growth initiatives, including bids as and if requested
Expense Management
- Ensures that scheduled hours and actual hours are in line with budget
- Oversees or coordinates equipment repairs
- Ensures subcontractor hours are in line with budget
Working Conditions:
The Operational Supervisor will require flexibility in shift times, with the majority of work conducted between 3:30 pm – 12:00 am. Must be fully vaccinated and be able to obtain CPIC clearance. Frequent travel within a geographic region is required. Must have valid driver’s license with clean drivers’ abstract.
Criminal Record Check:
Candidate must have the ability to pass a criminal record check to be considered for this role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory experience in a fast-paced environment dealing with a diverse work force
- Excellent client relationship skills
- Excellent communications and change management skills
- Ability to travel on an active schedule as well being available for any immediate issues that may arise
- Ability to identify positive and negative trends and apply problem-solving skills to resolve issues
- Janitorial experience in the Retail sectors (stripping, waxing, periodic scheduling, work orders, etc.)
- Professional approach to the client and the diverse work force in the industry
- Ability to raise concerns with the client on a professional level as well to foresee potential issues that may arise based on conditions and unforeseen events
- Confidence to speak up and push back diplomatically and respectfully
- Strong emotional intelligence
