elementary and secondary schools in Niagara, located between Lake Erie in the

South and Lake Ontario to the North.

Position - Financial Analyst

**LOCATION:**DSBN Education Centre

RATE OF PAY:$30.33 - $34.97 per

hour

**SCHEDULE:**35 hours per week - 12 Month

Position

Position Summary:

The District School Board of Niagara has a position

forFinancial Analystin DSBN’s Financial Services

Department. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the

successful applicant will be a key part of the Department, helping the Board

meet its accounting compliance standards through accurate analysis, auditing

and other key accounting duties. This role will collaborate with internal

and external stakeholders to ensure compliance of policies, procedures, and

accounting standards.

Duties include

but are not limited to:

  • Completing

    working papers and schedules for the Ministry of Education and DSBN

    reporting throughout the year.

  • Analyzing

    differences between reported actuals and budget/prior year actuals.

  • Review

    and reconciliation of general ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial

    reporting.

  • Analysis,

    consolidate and summarize data

  • Process

    journal entries for various financial transactions such as Municipal tax

    revenue received and online payments.

  • Perform

    reviews of school’s financial reports, records and processes to ensure

    conformance with current administrative procedures and best practices.

  • Create

    internal control review reports and complete follow up reviews.

  • Maintain

    the DSBN’s general ledger code of accounts, process online donations.

  • Maintain

    the DSBN’s vendor database

  • Responsible

    for the accurate accounting of the DSBN’s minor tangible capital assets.

Qualifications:

  • Currently

    enrolled in Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) program is preferred

  • Minimum

    of three (3) years post-secondary education in Accounting

  • Minimum

    of three (3) years of relevant accounting experience in a financial

    analyst role or equivalent

  • Proficient

    in the use of financial and spreadsheet software, along with Microsoft

    Office

  • Ability

    to deal with competing priorities, multiple demands and constant deadlines

  • Exemplary

    verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational and strong

    analytical skills

  • Strong

    initiative, attention to detail and excellent customer service delivery

  • Ability

    to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both within

    and outside the Board

  • Proficient

    in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe

  • Provision

    of a satisfactory Police Clearance including Police Criminal Record and

    Judicial Matters Check (PCRJMC) (an original copy date in the last 6

    months may be acceptable) is a condition of employment.
