The Department of Sociology at the University of Alberta invites letters of interest for 8 month (Fall 2026; Winter 2027) and 12 month (Fall 2026, Winter 2027, and Spring/Summer 2027) full time term positions to commence on September 1, 2026 with the possibility of renewal.

The Faculty of Arts is a diverse and inclusive academic community spanning the humanities, social sciences, and fine arts. It provides students with the tools to think critically, engage meaningfully, and contribute to a more just and thoughtful world.

Responsibilities for these positions include the teaching of 6 courses over an 8 month period (or 8 courses over a 12 month period for T12). Preference will be given to candidates who can teach methods, criminology, social theory, inequality, and/or social problems.

A Ph.D. in Sociology or a related discipline at or near completion is required for this position. Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. Experience teaching in Sociology is an asset.
