Our eight-month Systems Integration R&D Co-op/Intern opportunity has a focus on integrating the individual components of an electrochromic window into a market-ready package. You'll play a key role in integrating the electronics suite that ranges from the power electronics that modulate optical properties through to digital interfaces with industrial controllers and smartphone apps. Your work will fuel cutting-edge research and contribute to groundbreaking solutions.
Throughout this experiance, you'll gain hands-on experience with:
- Zephyr firmware routines to evaluate system integrity in the field
- electronic circuitry and software to validate in-house microelectronic module performance
- infrastructure and routines to validate real-world integrity of communications protocols
- development of physical (electromechanical) user interfaces
- development of digital user interfaces
- SDKs and APIs for system tie-in to third-party systems
We value innovative thinking, a strong sense of teamwork and individuals who are self-starters, demonstrate close attention to detail, and an ability to work independently within a strict deadline schedule.
This role is available ASAP for an 8 month term, or ending August 28, 2026. Applications will be reviewed the week of January 5, 2026. This role is available to both student's enrolled in a co-op program, or interns or junior candidates who are interested in committing to an 8 month term.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a co-op student at Miru, you will work directly with more senior staff on a variety of projects. Tasks and responsibilities for this role may include:
- Support the development and documentation for new or existing features
- Review, analyze, and optimize the architecture of the product with innovative solutions
- Refine and develop the interfaces between firmware and software
- Assess, test, troubleshoot for operating systems and applications software
- Collect, document and develop logical and physical specifications
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders from various team
CAREER DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING:
Our goal is to cultivate the next generation of leading scientists and engineers in the electrochromic field. We provide unique learning opportunities that will allow you to:
- Gain hands-on experience with CAD and ECAD software suites in addition to test and measurement equipment for prototyping both in-house and externally fabricated microelectronic modules
- Exposure to contemporary and emergent SDKs and APIs for communication with microelectronic modules;
- Develop skills in troubleshooting complex integrated systems;
- Communicate technical results effectively to multidisciplinary teams;
- Enhance your problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and time management abilities;
- Understand the electronic degradation mechanisms of devices and their effects on performance and lifespan;
- Develop a high proficiency in Google Workspace ; and
- Acquire experience in a sector dedicated to sustainability, energy efficiency, and smart building solutions.
Compensation:
The rate for this position is between 3,750 - 5,000 per month, depending on completion of relevant education and previous experience.
