DOF Canada is currently seeking multiple candidates for **Able Seafarer (AB)**positions to work on Canadian Flagged Offshore Support Vessels. Offshore work schedule will be based on a 28-day rotation. We are looking for a motivated and hardworking seafarer who has the passion for a career at sea. A key to success for this position is the ability to collaborate with offshore and onshore personnel. Tasks can include, but are not limited to:
- Preparation and painting of the vessel as required;
- Lashing and securing the deck cargo or equipment on deck;
- Loading and offloading offshore;
- Maintenance of deck machinery and equipment;
- Washing down the vessel externally;
- Internal cleanliness of specified areas during watch periods;
- Manning of helideck if applicable, as either fire party or baggage handler;
- Night watches in Port as required;
- General deck-work as required;
- Manning mooring stations as required;
- Working within other departments as instructed by the Chief Officer;
- Act as lookout when required
Requirements
Education and Certificate Requirements:
- Transport Canada Bridge Watch Rating Certificate of Competency
- STCW MED BS & PSC
- Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties Certificate
- Marine Basic First Aid and CPR
- Valid Canadian Passport
- Valid Canadian Seafarers Medical
Experience / Knowledge:
- Experience in OSV operations including Anchor Handling and Towing is required
- Experience on large AHTS vessels will be considered an asset
- Possess a high commitment to safe working practices and working as a team
- Ability to read, write, understand and speak English
- Self-starter, analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Successful candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. DOF maintains the right to request a criminal background check as a part of the recruitment process.
