About the Role

As an HR Generalist, you will play a key role in supporting the full spectrum of human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and compliance. This position requires a strong understanding of HR policies and employment legislation, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You will act as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, ensuring a positive workplace culture and alignment with organizational goals.

About the role

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Manage the recruitment function including preparing job descriptions, advertisements, screening, preparation of key interview questions, skill tests, and testing for cultural fit. Partnering with department managers to assess needs and fit for all candidates, providing them with shortlists of qualified potential hires.

  • Strategizing and collaborating with the HR and Management teams to improve the recruitment process.

  • Proactively source and contact “passive” candidates.

  • Coordinate new employee onboarding and orientation, ensuring a smooth transition for new hires.

Training and Development:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of talent management programs, including identifying high-potential employees and creating succession plans.

  • Research various training methods, sourcing coop students, providing management with curriculum options, and determine training priorities.

Employee Relations:

  • Provide advice on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, always maintaining strict confidentiality.

Employee Engagement and Satisfaction:

  • Assist in the development of strategies and initiatives to enhance employee engagement, job satisfaction, and overall employee experience within the organization.

  • Conduct employee surveys and act on feedback.

Employer Branding:

  • Promote the organization's employer brand, both internally and externally.

HR Compliance and Systems:

  • Stay updated on relevant labor laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.

  • Manage HR information systems and databases. Act as the point of contact for Bamboo HR.

HR Administration:

  • Provide support to the Human Resources function as directed by the HRBP.

About you

You have:

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in Human Resources.

  • Post-secondary education or suitable professional training and experience as an alternative

  • Excellent use of MS Office suite.

  • Proficiency in Bamboo an asset or previous experience using an HRIS.

  • General knowledge of Ontario employment laws and practices.

  • Effective oral and written communication.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize.

  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
