Reporting to the Vice-President, Academic, the Dean provides strategic academic and operational leadership for an academic school, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, industry-responsive education and training programs. As a member of the Deans’ Council, the Dean contributes to institutional academic planning, policy development, and strategic direction, while building partnerships and representing the college through leadership on committees, sector councils, professional associations, and external collaborations.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership: Provide strategic leadership for the school, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Support accessible and responsive learning opportunities through a variety of delivery models, including continuing studies, distance education, and contract training. Promote open communication, employee engagement, inclusion, and effective use of technology to enhance learning and operations. Strategic Planning & Development Lead the development and implementation of strategic, operational, and business plans aligned with institutional priorities and industry needs. Identify emerging labour market trends and develop new programs, training opportunities, and partnerships to address workforce demands. Collaborate across the college to support contract training, continuing studies, international initiatives, applied research, and program growth. People Leadership Provide direction, coaching, and performance management to chairpersons and staff to ensure high-quality programming and operational excellence. Lead recruitment, workforce planning, and staff development initiatives that support organizational goals and employee success. Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing work environment. Promotion & Community Engagement Develop and implement strategies to promote programs, attract students, and enhance the school's reputation. Build and maintain strong partnerships with industry, community organizations, professional associations, and other educational institutions. Represent the college within regional, provincial, and national networks and committees. Financial & Resource Management Develop, manage, and monitor operating, salary, capital, and project budgets. Ensure effective stewardship of financial, human, and physical resources to support school objectives and sustainable growth. Oversee planning and procurement of equipment, training materials, and other operational resources. Academic Quality & Student Success Ensure curriculum, program review, and evaluation processes maintain academic excellence and industry relevance. Champion inclusive, student-centered teaching and learning environments that support student success. Ensure programs reflect current practices, sustainability principles, and evolving workforce needs. Human Resource Development Lead workforce planning and professional development initiatives that support employee growth and organizational effectiveness. Identify and facilitate training opportunities that align with school priorities, emerging trends, and technological advancements. Support continuous learning and succession planning within the school.

Qualifications: A related undergraduate degree is required; a master's degree is preferred. Extensive knowledge of Canadian post-secondary education trends, emerging issues, and best practices. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry partners, community organizations, government agencies, and educational institutions. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and lead effectively within complex organizational environments. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess situations, identify solutions, and facilitate informed decision-making. Experience leading strategic initiatives and managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment. Proficiency with technology and business systems, including budget management, reporting, and productivity software. Demonstrated commitment to leveraging technology and innovation to enhance educational delivery, operations, and organizational effectiveness.
