Team Lead, Pricing & Data Analytics - Waterloo, Ontario What You Will Do...
- Develop the team’s talent base by strengthening technical skills, business capabilities, and actuarial knowledge.
- Strategically plan, lead, and coach the team on a daily basis to ensure high performance and alignment with organizational priorities.
- Coordinate and perform rate reviews across all lines of business, including rate indications, loss ratio and competitive analysis, filings, and impact calculations, using actuarial principles, GLMs, and other advanced techniques.
- Use data analytics to develop and re-evaluate underwriting appetite by identifying performance trends and collaborating with stakeholders on actionable insights.
- Prepare and lead regular rate filings with provincial regulators, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Lead the production of routine reports distributed across the organization, providing commentary on observed trends.
- Design, develop, and enhance data summary tools and actuarial datamarts to support business intelligence and enable self-serve capabilities.
- Perform research and data analysis to support informational needs across all business segments, including ad hoc reporting using SAS.
- Leverage expertise in Heartland’s policy administration and claims systems to extract, interpret, and analyze underlying data structures.
What You Will Bring...
- University degree (Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial) is preferred or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive, relevant experience in a data analysis role.
- High Proficiency with SAS, SQL, and Excel.
- A good understanding of P&C pricing and ratemaking concepts.
- Demonstrated strength in oral, written and presentation communication skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prior management experience is preferred.
- A working knowledge of Emblem would be an asset.
