About the role

Synergy Land Services Ltd. (Synergy) is pleased to offer an opportunity to join our busy team as a full-time accounting administrator in our Calgary office.

About Synergy Synergy is dedicated to providing high-quality land and right-of-way services for projects ranging from large-scale pipeline, power transmission, transportation/infrastructure, telecommunications, upstream oil and gas, renewables, and mineral acquisition.

Applicants Must Be Qualified As Follows Job Responsibilities

Day-to-day accounting duties under the direction and supervision of the Controller, maintaining high ethical standards and compliance with the use of industry-accepted accounting practices. This role also involves a variety of administrative and accounting tasks that support the efficient operation of the department.

Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • prepare and issue customer invoices and credit memos
  • record and apply incoming payments (cheques, EFTs, wires) accurately
  • monitor accounts for delayed or missed payments; follow up to ensure timely collection
  • maintain up-to-date AR aging reports and escalate overdue accounts
  • communicate with internal departments to resolve billing issues

Accounts Payable (AP)

  • review and verify vendor invoices for accuracy and proper approval
  • process weekly/monthly payment runs (EFTs, cheques, wires)
  • maintain vendor files and respond to inquiries regarding payments
  • reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies

Collections

  • initiate contact with delinquent accounts to arrange payment
  • track and document collection activities
  • follow internal procedures for overdue accounts and escalate as needed
  • coordinate with internal teams to resolve client disputes or issues delaying payment

General Accounting and Administrative Support

  • assist with monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • maintain accurate and organized digital and physical financial records
  • assist with internal and external audit preparation and requests
  • maintain confidentiality of financial information
  • strictly adhering to all Synergy policies and procedures
  • participating in and strictly adhering to Synergy HSE policies and procedures
  • staying current on relevant local affairs/news
  • performing other duties as required

Qualifications And Requirements

  • minimum two years of relevant accounting experience in AR, AP, and collections
  • post-secondary diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline an asset
  • strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
  • familiarity/working experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Microsoft Business Central (formerly Microsoft Dynamics)
  • working experience with Open Invoice, Cortex and Pandell
  • excellent attention to detail and accurate data entry
  • exceptional written and verbal communication
  • exceptional organizational skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • high level of integrity working with confidential documents and information
  • adherence to the highest ethical and professional standards
  • strong team player with effective and open communication skills
  • critical thinker
  • self-motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging work environment
  • land industry knowledge an asset
