Business Finance Analyst Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 Role status: Current opening Our client: A well-established Canadian organization with a strong national presence and an excellent reputation within its industry. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career finance professional looking to build a long-term career in FP&A, business finance, and analytics. Working alongside senior finance and business leaders, the successful candidate will gain exposure to budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, business performance analysis, and data-driven decision-making while developing strong technical and commercial finance skills.

Principal tasks and responsibilities include

• Utilize SQL to extract, validate, and analyze financial and operational data from multiple systems
• Support monthly reporting, dashboards, KPI tracking, and management reporting activities
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and business planning processes
• Analyze revenue, costs, profitability, productivity, and operational performance metrics
• Prepare variance analysis and provide commentary on key business drivers and trends
• Support the preparation of executive presentations, reporting packages, and financial analysis for leadership teams
• Work with finance and business stakeholders to answer ad hoc analytical requests and business questions
• Assist with financial modelling, scenario analysis, and business case development
• Maintain and enhance reporting tools, dashboards, and data visualization solutions
• Perform data validation and investigate reporting discrepancies to ensure accuracy and consistency
• Support reporting automation and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization
• Translate data into meaningful business insights and recommendations
• Participate in special projects focused on improving business performance and decision-making Qualifications and pre-requisites:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field
• 1-3 years of experience in financial analysis, business analysis, reporting, analytics, accounting, or a related role
• Strong SQL skills are required. Candidates should be comfortable writing queries and working with large datasets
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in understanding business performance drivers
• Experience with Excel, Power BI, or other reporting and visualization tools would be considered an asset
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, or business analysis is preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to present findings in a clear and concise manner
• Ability to work collaboratively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
