Summary:

The writing centre coordinator provides support to students pertaining to writing services instruction and tutorials to maximize student success. This position coordinates the development, delivery, and assessment of writing services and workshops offered to students registered in at the Prince Albert (PA) campus and regional college sites in support of the delivery of hybrid English classes. The coordinator also collaborates on marketing and communications plans for writing services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides writing service instruction and tutorial support to students.
  • Meets with students to provide individualized writing instruction and tutorial support.
  • Facilitates writing workshops and special events on topics such as academic writing, citation styles, and plagiarism prevention.
  • Coordinates appointments and drop-in hours to maximize accessibility and efficiency for students seeking support.
  • Develops, builds, and maintains multiple and complex relationships with on- and off-campus partners to support successful program delivery and student experiences.
  • Works closely with instructors to integrate writing support into course curriculum.
  • Assists in the development of effective marketing and communication plans for off-campus writing services.
  • Identifies and pursues new opportunities to enhance and expand offered services.
  • Updates online and print resources, such as writing guides, handouts, and instructional videos, tailored to student needs.
  • Supports English as an additional language learners by developing specialized programming and resources to support students’ unique writing challenges.
  • Communicates and acts in a respectful and professional manner, collaborates effectively, abides by policy, and contributes to a positive and productive work and learning environment.
  • Engages in continuous learning by participating in activities, training, and events related to Indigenous engagement, reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrates respect and dignity for all members of the community, actively contributes to an environment of acceptance and inclusion of others and responds to different perspectives from a place of curiosity, respect, and non-judgement.
  • Undertakes related duties, as assigned, consistent with the nature of the position.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in English; a master’s degree is preferred.

  • Minimum of two years’ experience developing and delivering writing services for students.

  • Experience marking and tutoring students in degree-level classes.

  • Knowledge of various citation styles such as American Psychological Association (APA), Modern Language Association (MLA), and Chicago Manual of Style (CMS).

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders.

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with stakeholders in a diverse environment.

  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of the provincial post-secondary system, particularly the distributed learning sector, is an asset.

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, Zoom and Panopto.

**Salary:**The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $53,091.00 - 82,954.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
