Job Overview: As a Director, QA in our software development group, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of software and related platform services for Lantern. In this role, you will lead the QA team composed of QA & SDET personnel to ensure a timely and high-quality product & service delivery. You will work closely with various technology, product and business stakeholders and leadership to deliver software and IT services that meet user needs. The candidate will be an influential leader with a growth mindset and proven expertise in building enterprise scale web, mobile, data and integration solutions. You will be accountable for the delivery of the strategic software and systems in support of meeting product and business goals.

Location : Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Responsibilities :

  • Lead a team of QA engineers & SDETs to test and deploy web and mobile applications, 3rd party integrations in cloud native environment.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to our QA teams, fostering their professional growth and development and contribute to building a high impact R&D Engineering team.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define project scope, and establish testing timelines.
  • Drive the implementation of best practices in software development, SDLC/STLC, testing strategies, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Develop and scale automated and manual testing strategies for web, mobile, APIs, and internal tools.
  • Take ownership of project deliverables, ensuring they meet quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide project updates, address concerns, and gather feedback.
  • Be a champion of new technology and solve problems in novel ways, including AI tools.

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience managing Quality Engineering or SDET teams.
  • 5+ years of experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, end users, and senior leadership to align QA strategies with business and product goals.
  • Demonstrated expertise in defining, tracking, and optimizing quality metrics and test strategies across complex technology stacks.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and implementing test strategies for APIs, modern JavaScript framework–based web and mobile applications, relational databases, and 3rd-party integrations.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Cucumber.
  • Strong experience managing bug tracking, test case management, and reporting tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, or equivalent).
  • Proficient in CI/CD practices and tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or App Center.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum development processes and ability to embed QA practices within iterative delivery.
  • Experience working in or with U.S. healthcare organizations is preferred, particularly with HIPAA-aligned systems and workflows.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a proactive and strategic approach to quality leadership.
