About the role
Senior Engineering Manager – SaaS / Integrations / Data Intelligence
📍 Hybrid in Vancouver (Gastown) | Competitive Compensation + Equity
The Opportunity
We’re partnering with a fast-growing SaaS company that’s breaking new ground in the intelligence data space. They’ve just spun up a brand-new team that’s critical to their long-term success—and they’re looking for an experienced and deeply technical Engineering Manager to lead the charge.
This isn’t your average EM role. You’ll be at the core of the company’s most strategic initiative: owning the technical vision and roadmap for a team focused on 3rd party integrations, insurance intelligence, and applied AI/ML. This role is pivotal to the company's future, with high visibility and high expectations to match.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and scale a team of 8 (with room to grow by 6+ more) focused on building integrations and backend capabilities
- Drive the technical direction and architecture for a new product line involving insurance and data intelligence
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Partnerships, Customer Success, and internal engineering teams
- Act as a hands-on technical leader—someone who knows the code, especially in Python, Django, and React
- Set and maintain a high technical bar, influencing best practices and delivering reliable, scalable software
- Hire, mentor, and build a high-performance engineering team from the ground up
- Drive operational excellence and strong engineering culture while balancing short-term needs with long-term vision
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Staff Engineer or Engineering Manager in a fast-paced SaaS environment
- A strong backend-focused technical with HIGH LEVEL Python. Django and React familiarity ideal
- Demonstrated ability to lead and grow high-performing technical teams
- Experience working with customer-facing applications, API and 3rd party integrations
- Clear communication and the ability to bring structure, clarity, and ownership in ambiguous environments
- Strong alignment with modern software development practices, including CI/CD, testing, and scalable system design
- A passion for building with urgency, ownership, and simplicity
Nice to Have
- Experience working with ML/AI-enabled products
- Background in insurance tech or other regulated data-heavy sectors
- Startup or scale-up experience
- Front-end engineering exposure
Why Join?
- You’ll own something from the ground up—and have a real seat at the table
- Hybrid work model (2–3 days/week in their Gastown office) with flexibility and autonomy
- Work alongside a smart, driven team solving complex problems in the insurance and data space
- Strong compensation: highly competitive salary offering (fully negotiable)+ equity + Bonus
- Benefits include 4 weeks’ vacation, lifestyle spending account, and the ability to work abroad for 60 days/year
