Job Description:
Reporting to the Sports Complex Coordinator, the Equipment Assistant is responsible for the preparation and installation of materials and equipment necessary for the activities of the Sports Complex users as well as being responsible for the storage of equipment and in performing various tasks related to their operation.
More specifically, but not limited to, the Equipment Assistant:
- Oversees daily schedule of activities at the Sports Complex;
- Prepares and takes down equipment for activities and classes for students in a safe and functional manner;
- Receives and prepares requests from teachers for class activities for students and material;
- Informs the Physical Education department if new equipment is needed for the students;
- Lends equipment, devices and class materials to students and sees that they are returned;
- Ensures that the merchandise received conforms to the order forms; signs receipts and other related documents;
- Assists in the maintenance of the Sports Complex inventory;
- Maintains and cleans equipment for all users; staff and students of the Sports Complex in all activity areas;
- Monitors building and equipment for any repairs that need to be done;
- Generates internal work orders for building or equipment repairs, and ensures necessary follow-ups;
- Liaises with external service providers to ensure equipment remains in good working condition and up to standards;
- Carries out minor repairs and maintenance; coordinates the work of major repairs;
- Coordinates the work of support personnel involved in activities for which they are responsible, as well as related training;
- Monitors the fitness room for staff and students, on occasion;
- Collects payments for activities, if necessary;
- Performs laundry tasks for class materials for students, as required.
Other related tasks which fall within the scope of the classification of this position may be assigned.
Classification: Magasinier ou magasinière, classe I (Storekeeper, class I)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. (35 hours per week)
Contract: Until June 19, 2026, or until the return of the incumbent to their position.
Qualifications:
- A secondary school diploma (DES) or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent;
- Two (2) years of pertinent experience.
Conditions related to the specific position:
- Strong English oral and written skills (to be tested);
- Functional French oral and written skills (to be tested);
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (to be tested);
- Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.), as necessary;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and autonomously;
- Strong human relations and organizational skills;
- Proven ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively;
- Customer service oriented.
