We offer rewarding opportunities for team-oriented individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment that are accountable, innovative, and driven to achieve challenging goals. We have an opportunity for a full-time Facilities Superintendent reporting to the Manager, Facilities within the Engineering Department at GCT at our Deltaport terminal. 

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities, the Facilities Superintendent will manage projects as well as lead daily activities related to civil infrastructure and industrial equipment. The ideal candidate must be able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, effectively manage stressful situations, and consistently make effective, high quality decisions.

 

You will:

  • Supervise the overall maintenance of assigned facilities to ensure compliance with all regulations and standards in accordance with proactive maintenance, general building and equipment life cycling.
  • Identify cost containment opportunities through operational and administrative efficiencies and continuous improvements that are in line with strategic business objectives.
  • Act as the point of contact for stakeholders (internal staff, labour workforce, consultants and contractors) on essential services (buildings and Infrastructure maintenance, etc.).
  • Manage vendor relations.
  • Provide technical expertise where appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties in keeping with the purpose and accountabilities of the role.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

Competencies for this position are typically acquired through the completion of an Engineering degree preferably in civil or mechanical engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution, as well as a minimum of five years progressive experience in the project management of civil infrastructure and/or industrial equipment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other requirements include:

  • Superior time management and organizational skills
  • Exceptional technical aptitude
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of industry recommended practices, civil or mechanical engineering techniques and codes for equipment selection and installation
  • Solid understanding of Health and Safety, Security and Environment regulations
  • Solid understanding of the project management life cycle
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively in a small team environment
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience working within unionized environments is preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required
  • Flexibility related to a 24/7 operation and ability to work at both Vanterm & Deltaport locations

Salary Band

  • $123,456 - $185,208
